EXETER - The Exeter Kinsmen
General Midget Hockey team lost
the fifth and deciding game in their
best -of -five OMHA playdown se-
ries with Lambeth 6-2 at the South
Huron Rec Centre last Wednesday
night.
Exeter had many chances to score
early in the contest and •finally did
at 6:58 when Laurie Chalmers
picked up a power -play goal from
Todd McCann.
Lambeth then came to life to
score three -straight, power -play
goals to take a 3-1 lead• after the
first period. Todd. Baker, :lob
Fletcher and Tom Walker all scored
in the first for the visitors.
Lambeth scored the only goal of
the second, by Walker, to take a 4-
1lead.
Henri L ebruyn got one back for
the 'malt early in the third, from
Haden Tinney and Brett Borden but
it wasn't enough because Lambeth
answered with two more goals later
'in the game. Kirk Smith scored an
unassisted tally and Lambeth cap-
tain Bob Buchanan scored while
enjoying a power play with under a
minute to play.
Pee Wees open second series with win over Dresden
DRESDEN - The Exeter Legion
Pee Wees openedtheir second
OMHA playdown series with an 8-
4 win over Dresden Thursday night.
The local squad scored five power-
play goals en rout to the victory.
Jeff Lingard_ got Exeter on the
board first when he scored at 7:04
of the first period, from Steve Far-
quhar and Ryan Stuart andjust over
a minute .later Derek Campbell
made it 2 -0 -with help from Ian Jean -
and Trevor Taylor,
Dresden got on the board with
just under six minutes to play in
the fist period but Exeter got -that
back when Stuart scored from Tay-
lor with under a minute to play in
the first period.
The locals got two more in the
second period. Derek Beckett scored
Stephen Township Mini Hawks
double count on Goderich 4-2
HURON PARK ,The Stephen
•Township Mini Hawks doubled
Godcrich 4-2 in league play Thurs-
day night at the Stephen,Township
Arena. They also bombed Lucan 9-
0, in an exhibition game in Lucan
on Sunday.
Pres' Lavier opened the scoring
against Godcrich with. an unassisf-
.ed goal with 36 seconds left the
first period.
Goderich tied the game early in
the second, before Stephen's Andy
Glavin put the home team ahead,
with kelp,from Lavier.
Goderich tied the game again ear-
ly in the third period, but the home
team took the lead for good on
Glavin's second of the game, unas-
sisted and got an insurance goal,
by Lavier _from Tim Morgan.
=C aliGlavin opened the scoring
in Lucan with help from Andy and
Jeff Glavin. It was the only goal of
the first period, but they added four
in the second and four more in the
third.

- and were; Billy Connor from Tyler
Todd, Jeff Glavin from Andy and

Scoring for Stephen in the third
were; Andy Glavin from Connor,
Nick Parsons from Todd; . Andy
Glavin from Mark Glavin, and
Connor unassisted.
Tommy Connor picked up his
sixth shutout of the year for Ste-
phen Township.
The Mini Hawks arc currently
playing a total -goal series with
Royal Oak Michigan. Their Ameri-
can friends took the first game 7-4
and the Mini Hawks return to Roy-
al Oak March 4 for their final
game.
Crunchers win two more games
STRATHROY - The Exeter At=
oms Crunchers racked up two more
league- wins last week. They won
4-1 in Strathroy Thursday night
and beat Strathroy 8-2 at the South
Huron Rec Centre last Wednesday
night. - .
Thursday night, the locals led the
entire game, 1-0 after one period
and 2-0 after two.
Bryce Hann got Exeter on the
board with a goal in the first peri-
od, after being set up by Billy
Kline. .
Jeff Inch made it a 2-0 game
with a second -period goal from
Hann and Nathan Hem.
Exctcr and Strathroy were play-
ing a very tight game to that
point, with Crunchers goalie Mi-
chael Schwindt stopping every-
thing that came his way until late
in the third period when Ian Rollo
scored for the home team.
Bryon Ellerington and Geoff
Hann scored earlier in the third pe-
riod for Exeter. Geoff Hann. and
Jcff Mason assisted on Ellering-
ton's goal and Ellcrington assisted
Hann's tally.
Exeter 8 Strathroy 2.
Exeter lead 2-0 after the opening
period. Jeff Inch got Exctcr on the
board from Jeff Mason and -Geoff
Hann and Bryce Hann picked up an
unassisted goal. - -
= Exctcr added four-more•goal in
the second period, while Strathroy
managed to get one behind
Schwindt.
Bryce Hann scored from incn JV
seconds into the period, Hern scored
from Ellcrington and Geoff Hann,
Geoff Hann scored from Mason. and
Ellerington and Inch tallied from
Bryce Hann.
Strathroy got the first goal of the
third period, but Exeter didn't let up
and got goals by Kline from Bryce
Hann and Geoff Hann scored from
Mason. - -
Schwindt played another superb
game in goal for Exeter.
Coaches Bill Inch Morley Obrc
commented the team's success was
due to co-ordinated steady hockey
strategy in offence and unwavering
defence against several formidable
opponents. -
Petite lead Mitchell 1-0
EXETER - Saturday, the Exeter before Mitchell broke lose with
Petite Ringette team challenged the three goals. The Mitchell scorers

Waxers won both of their OMER
playdown games on the weekend.
Saturday the locals edged Wallac-
eburg 4-3 and on Sunday they
turned back Lambeth 3-1. Both
games were played at the South
Huron Rec Centre.. •
The Waxers did not trail the en-
tire game on Saturday, leading 1-0
after the first period and 2-0 after
the second.
Jeff MacLean opened the scoring
at 3:36 of the third whenhe tallied
an unassisted effort and he' netted
his second at 9:19 of the second,
from Scan Guenther for a 2-0 lead
for Exctcr.
Wallaceburg came back to tic
with a pair of quick goals early in

MacLean netted his hat trick to
give Exeter a 3-2 lead, with Ben
Cottrell and David Farquhar assist-
ing.

scored his fourth goal, an unassist-

.and could not get the tying goal
behind Joey Bicrling, the Exeter
nctmindcr for both games on the
weekend.
Exeter 3 Lambeth 1
Sunday afternoon's first period
was scoreless, but each team scored
once in the second, Farquhar for
Exeter from MacLean and Lambeth
answered back later in the second.
The winners scored a pair of un-
ancw si_eflals in the thirdperirxl
to take the win. Farquhar netted his
second from MacLean and MacL-
ean picked up an unassisted, insu-
rance goal. '

Dresden came back to -score the
next three goals to get within a
goal at 5-4, but Exeter scored the
last three goals of the contest to
take the win. Lingard cotnpleted his

scored from Farquhar and Jean and
Glavin completed the scoring, from
Campbell and Stuart.
Game two of the series will .be
played tonight, Wednesday, at the
South Huron Rec_ Centre and if a
third game is needed it will be
played in Dresden Saturday at 3:30
p.m
