Ma- dill of Wingham and Listowel. The junior and senior Panthers claimed their two victories while the midget boys fell to the Mus- tangs 613 to 49, and to Listowel 60- 53. The Senior boys controlled most of the play against the Mustangs, taking a convincing 33-17 lead go- ing into the second half of play. The Panthers continued to play ex- tremely well, and took a 59-42 vic- tory. Rob Pearen led the scoring for South Huron with 17 points. Rob Wonnacott and Scott Hem followed Pearen with 15 and eight points re- spectively. SH's Junior boys also played well against the Mustangs. The boys opened a large 33-17 lead during the first half of play. The Panthers con- tinued to dominate the game in the second half and came away with a 53-43. win. -lean Verbeek continues to have a successful season with the Panthers and was top scorer with 21 points. Jason Clarke and Bret Borden fol- lowed with eight points and Steve .DuBarry added four. The midget Panthers played a strong Madill team and were defeat- ed 68-49. Despite the Panthers ef- forts, the Mustangs controlled most of the play. Randy Johnson led the Panthers with 16 points, followed by Fred Steciuk with six and Jason Hey- wood with four. Last Monday, South Huron Dis- trict High School's boys basketball teams hosted league games against Listowel. The Panthers came away with two wins for their efforts. The Senior Panthers played a competitive game against the Lords taking the close game 54-53. Going into the second half of play, SH held a 30-21 Lead but Listowel closed the margin almost catching the Panthers. t'ortunately, time ran out and the Panthers took the victo- ry. Pcarcn played a superb game scor- ing 26 of the Panthers points. McAllister followed with 21 points and Wonnacott added nine. SH's Junior boys played an im- pressive game against Listowel coming from bchind to win 48-32. Listowel took a slight 17-14 lead over the Panthers after the first half of play. Leslie gave the Blues a 5-2 lead when he scored at 1:41 of the third period, but then the Mohawks start- ed their comeback thanks to the strong play of Bill Glover and Kris Bedard, who helped kill penalties all aftemoon. The comeback started at 3:44 of the third when Elliot scored unas- sisted and just 22 seconds later came back to within a goal on Ran- derson's marker, from Wilker. They got back on even terms when Wilker scored from Tim Adair and Barry Baynham with 2:14 left to play, which set the stage for Ron Goodhand's overtime heroics, at 3:32 of overtime, from Elliot and Wilker. Dark played a steady game for the Mohawks especially in overtime when he stopped all three that came his way. The Mohawks will meet the Elo- ra Rocks in the South Division fi- nals starting Sunday night at the South Huron Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m. The Rocks eliminated the Ta- vistock Royals in four -straight games, including the clinching game in Tavistock Monday night. Game two of the best -of -seven se- ries will be 'played Wednesday, March 1 at 8:30 p.m. in Elora. The rest of the series is as fol- lows: Game three, Saturday March 4, 8:30 p.m. at the SHRC, Game four, Sunday, March 5, 2 .p.m. in Elora, Game five, Tuesday March 7 8:30 p.m. at SHRc, Game six, Fri- day, March 10 8:30 p.m. in Elora and Game seven, Sunday, March 12 7:30 p.m. at SHRC. The last three games will be played if neccessary.
