their stu-dent council recently when asked to come to school with
a most unusual hairdo for wacky hairstyle day. Who could re-
fuse? Jennifer Morrison, student council secretary, set the trend
with probably more colours and hair clips than anyone else.
Medalist - Krista Schilbe, a member of the Zurich and Area Figure
Skating Club, wears the bronze medal she won in the Great
Lakes Competition in London on February 4.
Zurich girl wins
ZURICH - Congratulations to
Kathy Meurer, daughter of Bob and
Tootle, Zurich, who was chosen as
the Grand Bend Winter Carnival
Queen on Saturday night. She was
picked among the five semi-
finalists at the fashion show on
Friday.
It was nice io see quite a few out
from Zurich to show their support
for Kathy.
Kathy won a. trip for two to
"Montreal" plus many other prizes.
4-H club
A 4-H Organizational meeting
was held at -the Zurich Public
School on Tuesday night, February
7 with leaders being Sylvia Nceb
and Judy Morrison.
A second group will meet every
Monday night at the Town Hall
with leaders Bridget Groot and Ce-
cilia Farwell.
Both meetings -will be held from
7-9 p.m. There is still room for a
few more girls between the ages of
11 and 21 years to start this coming
week.
'Working with Wool" •is the
course. The four leaders attended a
workshop in Clinton last Thursday.
Skating Club
Nineteen members of the Zurich
and Arca Figure Skating Club will
be travelling to Glencoe this Satur-
day, February 11 to take part in the
annual Sweetheart Competition
against several other skating clubs.

Skating party
The St. Boniface and St. Peter's
Parishes P.T.A. family skating par-
ty at the arena on Sunday afternoon
was well attended.'Both young and
old enjoyed skatipg while others
played a few rounds of cards or
games in the auditorium.
MYF
Members of the M.Y.F. group
from the Mennonite church also en-
joyed having a skating party at the
arena on Saturday, on Friday night
they went bowling at the Zurich
Lanes.
Pancake supper
The Lutheran Church members
will be holding their annual
"Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper"
before Lent on Wednesday, February
8 with their traditional delicious
homemade potato and regular pan-
cakes.
World Day of Prayer
The World Day of Prayer will be
held this y' on Friday, March 3 at
the Zurich United Church at 2:00 in
the afternoon. Everyone in the com-
munity is invited to participate.
Personals
Congratulations to Lori and Ke-
vin Jeffrey on the arrival of a baby
girl bom February 4. She's the sec-
ond great grandchild for Dolly Jef-
frey and first grandchild for Tdny
and Marlene Bedard and Peter and
Evelyn Jeffrey.
Last Thursday night's bingo -saw
another big crowd, and door prizes
were won for boxes of 'Valentine
heart shaped chocolates.
The Mystery prize of $225.00
went to Barb Hoy from Brucefield.
The lucky jackpot winner of $1000
was Velma Harvey from Exeter.
Debbie Smith was the lucky win-
ner of a large box of Valentine can-
dy in a`contest held at the Bowling
Alley last week.
Donna Klopp along with Heather
Klopp.and two chir'dren spent a
couple of days in Windsor recently
visiting with Diane and Heather's
relatives. •
Jim and Joy Hogg and John and
Leslie Jeffrey were among those go-
ing on a bus trip to Montreal over
the weekend through Ellison Travel
in Exeter to see the exciting N.H.L.
hockey game that was held at the
Montreal Forum. One of the
players was Dave`Shaw of the N.Y .
Rangers.
Don't forget about the euchre. par-
ty at the town hall on Monday,
February 13 beginning at 8:00 p.rn.
Lunch will be provided. It is spon-
sored by the Zurich Golden Agers
and everyone is welcome. •

are extended to Berit Wallace who
has returned home from the hospi-
tal.
Anyone who likes to quilt is wel-
come to join the ladies at the Ma-
plewoods Apts. this week to work
on the next C.W.L. Bean Festival
quilt.
