Dorcas Unit meets
LUCAN - A poem, Thank God
for Today, was read by Dorcas Unit
leader Mabel Froats. Elected secre-
tary was Dorothy Darling and as
assistant secretary Bernice Lockyer.
Members visited with elderly
members of the Lucan United Con-
gregation and gave them the
U.C.W. gift of an amaryllis plant.
Thank you letter for a quilt was
read from Women's Community
House, London. Two other quilts
are ready to give to them also.
New groups of three people to
plan worship, program and lunch
for each meeting will be former.
The February meeting is moved
up to the 14th when we will enter-
tain our secret pals from Crestwood
and find out the identity of each. •
The Presbyterial U.C.W. will be
' held February 9 at Metropolitan
Church, London with the theme
Faith Experiences of Women.

Our beef supper is scheduled for
April 13 at the arena and Christmas
Bazaar will be November 25. More
beef and turkey pies will be made
at church February 2 and may be
picked up at 4 p.m. on the same
day. Orders for Regal cards and gift-
wrap are to be phoned to 227-1124
by February 6.
Bernice Lockyer gave a presenta-
tion on recycling newspapers and
glass. A plan needs to be set up to
work on this. We arm asked not to
use foam cups and paper plates and
to save our newspapers tied in
bundles.
Articles were read from the Ob-
server and the Mandate. Copies of
U.C. cookbook "Let's Break Bread
Together" are still available. The
quilting group have made a queen
size quilt for sale. A pancake and
sausage supper is being organized"
for February 7. '
Roll call was answered' with a
bible verse on justice. An audio-
visual "Choose You This Day".
The Challenge of South Africa,
showed us the problems of a coun-
try living under the apartheid sys-
tem.
A prayer for justice concluded the
meeting.

CENTRALIA - At the United
Church on Sunday, a pot luck
lunch followed the morning service
before the annual meeting. A good
crowd turned out.
All officers were returned for an-
other term with the following add-
ed. Harvey Rollings to the Board of
Stewards, Elmer Powe to Nominat--
ing Committee and Mildred Greb to
Flower committee.
Remembered in prayer was Tom
Somerville in University Hospital
and recovering at home Margaret
Cook and Donald Stuart.
The U.C.W. will meet on Thurs-
day evening at 8 p.m. at the church
on February 2. On the same even-
ing the Jr. Young People will meet
at the manse for the video Dr. in
the Sky and games.

phen McIntyre of Huron Park who
passed away on Thursday at Hen -

The euchre at Centralia Commu-
nity. Centre was well attended with
prize winners as follows: high score
Iva Blair, Earl Morgan; lone hands,
Jean Noels, Andy Thompson; low
score Jessie Lewis, Alfred Mathers;
lucky score winners were: Charlotte
Barker, Charlie Rollings.
Next euchre will be February 6 at
8 p.m. The Srs. met on the same
afternoon and will meet again Feb-
ruary 6 at 2 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cronyn re-
turned home on Friday from an en-
joyable trip to Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic. They found
the weather very hot with tempera-
tures 90 to 100 degrees each day.
Larry and Mary Cronyn enter-
tained on Sunday at the Great West
Steak House in honour of their
twin daughters Lori and Lynn's
25th birthdays. Also present were
Lynn's husband Mike Veri and
Lori's friend Gerald Cook.

Living word continues
LUCAN - On Sundays at 10:30
a.m. the Living Word Congrega-
tional Church continues to wor-
ship in the auditorium of Lucan
Public School.
Prior to the morning service
Sunday School meets at 10:15
a.m. where they continue to study
individual Bible stories.
At the morning service of Janu-
ary 19 we welcomed out of town
visitors who came for fellowship
and support. The service opened
with all in attendance singing wor-
ship songs from the overhead and
hymnals.
Pastor Rev. Darrell Shaule con-
tinued his teaching series. This
weeks theme was "The Bible Truth
about God's Holy Spirit". In his
message Rev. Shaule pointed out
the need to know the Holy Spirit
in our lives today. The difference
that the Holy Spirit made to the
disciples lives in the early Chris-
tian Church is the same power we
need in todays church.
Upcoming events include weekly
Bible Studies, on Sunday February
12. Dave and Sue Latta will be
special guests in a service of re-
joicing and celebration. This is to
be followed by a pancake brunch
cooked by the men of the congre-
gation for their "Valentine".
The Sunday School looks for-
ward to their swim party. %Youth
group continues to met each Sun-
day evening at 7:30 p.m. Informa-
tion on upcoming event can be ob-
tained from the pastor at 227-1296.
Lucan fellowship meets
LUCAN - The Lucan Ministerial
Fellowship Unity service 'was held
Sunday evening at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church. Rev Fr. Wm.
Capitan greeted all who came.
Rev. Darrell Shaule, and a mem-
ber of the Youth Group of Living
Word Congregational Church led in
responsive prayer of Praise. The
choir of Community Bible Church
sang Jesus Thou Joy of Loving
Hearts. Rev. Doug Loveday, pastor
of Community Bible Church led in
- reading Psalm 100. Rev. Darrell
Shaule led in prayer for the Gospel.
Rev. Shaule read the Gospel read-
ing from John 13:1-15.
The evening message as given by
Pieter Schinkleshoek, assistant pas-
tor of Lucan Revival Centre. Mr.
Schinkleshoek, from John 13:1-15
said following Jesus is exciting be-
cause of all the miracles Jesus did.
When Jesus rode the donkey into
Jerusalem it must have been excit-
ing with people worshipping Him.
Yet in this story Jesus knelt with a
towel around him, to wash His dis-
ciples feet. To be a Christian
means to be like Christ with a ser-
vant's attitude.
Rev. Bruce Pocock of Holy Trini-
ty Anglican Church, led in the
Statement of Faith. Kingsley Abel ,
of Community Bible Church sang

The Prayer of Repentance was led
Rev. Bruce Pocock and Mrs. Betty
Ankers of Holy Trinity Church.
This responsive prayer concluded
with a gesture of peace, with con-
gregational members greeting each
other.
A special musical selection
Peace, Peace, was sung by the
Community Bible Centre choir.
The offertory Hymn Sing a New
Song was sung by all.
Prayers of the People was respon-
sively led by Rev. Tim Grigg, of
Community Bible Church. Rev.
Fr. Capitano led the Benediction re-
sponsive prayers. The concluding
hymn was sung in closing, They
Will Know we are Christians, led
by Mr. Frank Heenan, St. Patrick's
choir leader.
Rev. Capitano invited everyone
to a reception following the service
provided by the St. Patrick's Wom-
en's League.

Busy Buddies met in the Scout Hall
with president Jim Davis in the
chair. Minutes of the previous
meting were.read and approved.
A letter form VON Jackie Wells
was read and I was asked to arrange
a time she could speak to our
group.
A discussion regarding having
John MacDonald speak to us result-
ed in our president contacting him
and arrangements were made to have
him come to the Scout Hall on
Thursday, February 3 at 9:30 a.m.
to speak about the new seniors
apartments. All seniors please note
this time and place and plan to at-
tend.
