Hockey Panthers trip Mustangs 8-4

'EXETER -.OnFriday, the South
Huron District High school Hockey
Panthers defeated Wingham's FE
Madill 8-4 in a league game held•at
the South Huron Recreation Cen-
tre:.
• At. the 7:25 mark, Harden Tinney
opened scoring from Rob Taylor
and Jeff Chipchase. Taylor then
'potted one at 12:20 from Tinney
and Dave O'Connor. -
With nine seconds remaining .on
the clock in the first period, Steve
Lingard put one behind the Mus-
tangs' netminde_r from •Jon
O'Connor.•
Madill managed one goal in the
first frame to give the Panthers a 3-
1 advantage .after one period of -
play. •
Lingard hit the net again in the
second period, from Jon O'Connor
`and Brian Moir.
Jon O'Connor scored two more
goals in the period; the first from
Moir and Tinney and the second
from Lingard and Todd LaPorte.
Moir later connected with Lingard
and -LaPorte, to give SH their
fourth goal of the period.
The . Mustangs added one for
themselves but the Panthers led 7-
2.
•Wingham. got two quick goals in
the third frame but late in the period
Moir put on more behind Madill's
nctmindcr from Jon O'Connor and
Lingard to make the final score 8-4
in favour of the locals.
After taking a break for exams the
Panthers are scheduled to meet
Clinton .on February 10.
Belle Ringette edge out Huron Park 5-4
EXETER- An exciting game be-
tween the'Excter Belles and Huron
Park ended in a 5-4 tilt in favour of
Exeter when those competitive
teams met at the South Huron Rec
Centre last Tuesday..
Huron Park opened scoring at the
14:32 mark of the first on a goal •
by Ginny Cable, _from Kathy -
Gage.
At 14:19, Exeter replied by put-
ting one behind the Huron Park
._goaltender, Scoring was Michelle
Ellison from Beth Hawley. It
wasn't until 9:16 that Tina Camp-
• bell scored from Kelli McBcth to
end -the :period . ina 2-1 advantage in
favour of Exeter.
Once again, Huron Park opened •
scoring 'n the second frame as

ed goals at"13:02 when McBeth hit
the net from Campbell and Julia
Meurer.
Keri -Lynn Rutten replied for Hu-
ron Park from Teena Lampiqrt.
Campbell reacted at 4:58 from El-
lison and Cindy Moore but their
opponents managed to tie it up
again as Cable put one past the
Exeter stopper from Rutten.
With 45 seconds remaining on
the. clock, Moore managed to sneak
one score in the net from Camp-
bell and Ellison to take the 5-4
victory.
On Sunday, the local squad de-
stroyed Clinton 1.3-0 at the South
Huron Rec Centre.

three assists. Michelle Caers and
Kelli McBeath each had a pair of
goals, while Michelle Ellison and
goaltender. Beth Hawley. had the•
other Exeter goals.

while sister Marcie chipped in with
three; Christine Rose had a pair
and one each went to Spring Cush-
-. man and Kim -Murray.
