From 10-11 c a.m. the children enjoy stories, songs and simple crafts. There is no charge and parents may stay they choose. No children under 3 please unless the parent stays. For more information call Jaki at 262- 2445 during branch hours. Personals Christy Joy, daughter of Ron and Susan Hartman was baptized Sun- day at St. Boniface Church. Guests for dinner afterwards were Mrs. Theresa Hartman of Zurich,- Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hartman of Dash- wood, and Ken and Hennie Farwell, Kate, Dara, Kelly and Kyle of Ex- eter. Hockey Last Monday, Hensall Novice hockey team .defeated Blyth 11-4. Gorden Glimpses' ZURICH - For the "Old Timers" who have seen many a January come and go, it must be difficult to find one to compare with that of January, 1989. With the weather being as favour- able as it has been, some of our Residents have been able to be out walking and enjoying the fresh air. We have quite an interested group who enjoy their card games every afternoon and some evenings, take advantage of the exercise classes, discussion groups, sing time and all the activities in the craft room. We welcome Helen Bedard and )Laura Stewart back from the hospital. Last week some of the Residents enjoyed watching the large quilt be- ing quilted by the Auxiliary and some perhaps were able to help a bit. This quilt will be raffled off on Bean Festival Day in August and tickets will be available here .at the Home. August seems a long time away but time does fly. The Sunday evening chapel ser- vice was conducted by Paul Zehr of the Lakeview Conservative Men- nonite Church. Hensall goals scored by Brock Weiss with 4, Chris Jones 3, Gra- ham Keys 2, Jamie Monck 1 and Jimmy Seaton 1. On Wednesday, the Novices overpowered Zurich White 4-1. Hensall goals were by Ryan Munn, Brock Weiss, Regan Neilands and Mark Bell. Also on Wednesday, the Hensall Atoms were at home to defeat Blyth. Blair Moir's single and Dan- ny Taylor's double led Hensall to a 3-2 victory. HMHA The Hensall Minor Athletic As- sociation hosted a Rec `Tournament January 12, 13 and 14. Many local businesses sponsored ice time, many parents helped make the event'a-n important fund raiser and'a success again this year.. The winner of the teddy bear was Tim O'Brien of London. Thanks to Sheila Reaburn for helping with the purchase of the bear and to Bill Gibson and Sheila Reabum for dis- play space in their store windows. United Church The Sunday School children were Heading for provincial; Gary Huston (left) and Doug Smith are the doubles bowlers from the Zurich Five -Pin Association who will be going to Hamilton in March to compete in the Hiram Walkers provin- cial finals. Huston and Smith bowled 202 points above their average scores on January 15 to quali- fy them for the finals. In the evening the faithful Christian Reformed Singers per- formed for us. A highlight was I "Jesus Loves Me" by three-year-old Mary Ann Visscher. Tuesday, Reverend Debra Carter of Centralia United Church led our worship service. We appreciated her remembering in prayer Pearl Hen- dricks and Bernard Keyes who passed away recently. We all miss them both. Euchre was played Wednesday by 1 some residents of our nursing home I and the retirement home. There's a rather friendly rivalry and competi- tion going on which makes the games much more fun. SHYFC Talent Night Rally BRUCEFIELD - South Huron Youth For Christ began 1989 with a Talent Night Rally January 7 at the Brucefield Public School. The annual talent night features a varie- ty of local talent by both the young and the "young at heart" each year and this year was no exception! However, before the performers got started, the quiz teams from Ex- eter, Goderich and Zurich participat- ed in a quiz which was won by Godcrich with 200 points, followed closely be Exeter with 180 points and Zurich third. The Zurich Mennonite Youth contributed to the evening with "Menno Magic" and "Petra Jr." two of the nation's top air bands.
