those occurred on Saturday, January

with light snow falling.
Fortunately, only one person re-

LUCAN - Pieter Schinkleshoek
led the song service Sunday morn-
ing. Rev. Terry Harpet, leader of
the outreach team for Teen Chal-
lenge from Hamilton, told of their
program of helping young men
who come to them for help.
First they are trainedin the group
they first join. Then they go to
Pennsylvania where they can com-
plete schooling to Grade 12, then
take training for a trade.
Rev. Harpet spoke. from Psalm •
94. He stated God knows what evil
is going on in our nation. But God
can take the evil of this world and
tum it around for good. The Psalm-
ist wrote God gives assurance of
His help for His own.
Sunday evening ReEv. Roger
Mason conducted the service. Mr.
Pieter Schinkleshoek ministered
from 1 Thesalonian 5:14-28. Verses
14 to 22 set goals and commands
for Christians to practice on wait-
ing for the rcturn of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Schinkleshoek stated7rhen the
new ycar comes in, many people
cannot face the thought of death as
the old year dies out. Instead when a
person becomes a Christian, the old
sinful self dies out, with the new
life of Christ coming in.
Schinkleshoek stressed the man
of the house is responsible to set
spiritual goals for his family. One
goal should be to win people for
the Lord. What if this is the ycar
Jesus Christ returns for His own?

short time span. Please anticipate
this and adjust your driving habits
during the winter . months. Take
your time and drive safely.
The number of general occurrenc-
es have remained low at 30, for the
past week in the Lucan arca. Only
two break-ins and two thefts have
been reported. This is down from
past weeks. However, police would
like to warn residents and business-
es that the persons responsible for
break-ins and thefts arc still active
in surrounding areas.
Recently, break-ins, thefts and
some cigarette thefts have been oc-
curring and these involve schools,
liquor stores and variety/grocery
stores. House break-ins and thefts
from residences have also been re-
ported in neighbouring areas.
