At-. . tending the tournament were So(ith v Huron, Central, Scaforth, and Strat- ford Northwestern. The senior girls. played. against some tough competition and came away with two wins in six games. It was a toss up between SH and Seaforth. with each tcam coming away with one win a piece. SH'de- feated. Seaforth in the first match 15-10 but Scaforth replied with a 159 win over the Panthers. The Panthers also took one 15-4 win in their matches against Strat- ford. Northwestern. Northwestern claimed the other yictory by a 15_- 12 5-12 count. . Up against an extremely strong Central .team, • SH dropped both games 15-4 and -15-12: The junior Panthers were. quite_ successful taking four wins. SH claimed two victories against Sea - forth winning 15-9 and 15-7. The Panthers took the first match 15-7 over Stratford Northwestern but 'dropped- the second game 15-13. Stratford Central controlled play in their first match against SH .win= ning 15-:1 but the Panthers came back to win the second match 15- 13. Mini Hawks win tWice HURON PARK - The Stephen Township Mini Black Hawk Atoms picked up two more league wins last week. On Thursday night, they beat St. Marys 5-2 at the Stephen Township Arena and on Saturday afternoon they blasted Bayfield 9-0. The Mini Hawks led from the. start on Thursday night, grabbing a 2-1 lead after the first period and 3-2 lead after the second. Ben McCann started the scoring for Stephen, from Chris Glavin, followed later in the first period, by Pres Lavicr from Billy Connor. Connor connected in the second' period, from Kcn Desjardincs._ " In the third period, it was Nick Parsons scoring from Desjardincs and Matt Glavin scoring unassisted. McCann and Darryl Parsons were called up for, that game froln the - Novice team. . Andy Glavin led Stephen Town- ship on Saturday with four goals, ,Chris Glavin had a pair and singles ��re-scored by Pres Levier, Chris Glavin and Billy Connor. Sunday's game was deadlocked at 2-2 after one period but the Bulls pulled ahead 6-4, scoring four times in the second period. Jeff. Hirtzcll led the Irish attack with a pair of goals, while Dean Schram, David Murray and Joe Fe brcy picked up one each. Despite the loss, the Irish still have a comfortable 14 point lead over second -place Brussels. The Irish will try and avenge the I loss tonight, Wednesday, when thej 8:15 game. Sunday afternoon, the Irish travel to Seaforth to play the I Tweens play In exhibition ALVINSTON - Saturday, Exeter Tweens went to Alivinston to play an exhibition game against Chat- ham. It was a very hard -plying game. Andrea Urlin was in goal for Exeter and did a superb job. Chatham scored only one goal, with 5:06 remaining in the first period. Exeter's Jill Sararas scored at --the 9:45 mark of the second period, with Janice Sanders assisting. They played a tough game, skat- ing back and forth, with both goal- ies making great saves. Neither team seethed able to score again. After the game, the Chatham ref -1 erec commented on how well Exet- cr's girls had played. Goderich Vikings beat all three Panther teams By Michelle Ellison EXETER - `Last Tuesday, South Huron District High School's boys basketball teams hosted league games against . their .rivals, the Goderich Vikings. Unfortunately, all three SH teams went down to defeat,. The Senior Vikings took charge. over the Senior Panthers and took a convincing 25-16 lead in the first half. SH couldn't catch their oppo- nents and fell to.the short end of -a 45-28 count. Rob Pcaren played well leading the Panthers with. 12' points. Rob. Wonnacott followed with 11 and Jing Dickens added three._ The Junior Panthers played .a competitive game against the Vi- kings. The Panthers held their ri- vals to a 26-25 match at half time. Unfortunately, the Vikings am - trolled most of the playin the sec- ond half and took the -59-45 victo- ry. Steve Dubarry. played a superb game for SH and was the top scorer with 15 points. Ian Vcrbcek and Ja-, son Clark followed with- nine and eight points respectively. Panthers playoff The Midget Panthers played well against the Vikings but were defeat- ed 41-33 in the contest. SH held the Vikings to a 16-12 draw at half time. The Panthers continued to play well but the Vikings took the win. Terry Genttner played a successful game;ieading with 10 points.
