ELIMVILLE - The Elimville
Women's Institute met at the home
of Evelyn Horne, Wednesday morn-
ing.
resident Marie Brock opened
with a poem "Kindergarten". The
citizenship and world affairs, con-
veners were in charge of the meet-
ing.
Coward handed out a quiz
concerning local municipal councils
and questions pertaining to the sub-
ject. Margaret Hern the past deputy
reeve of Usborne was the guest and
answered and discussed the question.
This proved to be very informative
for most of the members. The roll
call was answered by "name a local
current event".

Horne and Lavona ISclbridge.
An open house for the quilts
• made for the OMAF centennial year
will be held in the Clinton town
hall on January 27 from 2 to 4.
It was decided to give a donation
to the Children's Hospital of South
Western Ontario and also to make
some quilts for them.
The members will meet on Feb-
ruary 1 at 9:30 at the home of Mar-
jorie Johns to start this project.
The lunch committee will be Shir-
ley Cooper, Kay Morley and Marjo-
ric Dykeman.
The March meeting will be held
at the home of Ruth Skinner's.
The Sportsman Dinner is Febru-
ary 7 and several members offered
to help.
Install Officers
Rev. Sheila Macgregor conducted
the installation. of the Elimville
United Church Women officers dur-
ing the church service.
As Joan Skinner read the names
of the officers and the offices held
the member came forward.
The following members were in-
stalled: Presidept - Joyce Fulton;
vice -President - Janet Coward and -
Shirley (Don) Kerslake; Secretary -
Sandra Rowe; Assistant Secretary -
Cynthia Pym; Treasurer - Carolyn
Johns; Assistant Treasurer - Kaye
Penhale; Correspondence Secretary -
Ruth Skinner.
The chairperson of the following
committees were also installed:
Nominators - Sharon Lynn; Com-
munications - Jean Lynn; Steward-
ship and finance - Carolyn Johns;
Leadership development - Marjorie
Johns; Church in Society - Ola Bat-
ten; Christian Development - ,Kay
Grubb; World Outreach - Shirley
Cooper; Archives - Grace Pym.
Communion was also served dur-
ing the church service.
The annual meeting will be held
on February 5.
New families
are welcomed

DASHWOOD - The Dashwood
and Area Business Association held
▪ their monthly meeting January 9.
Welcome Wagon plants were giv-
en to new families and businesses
coming into town, including Tracy
and Patti at the Horseshoe Diner,
Morris Fernades, Michael Gallayh-
ger, Dale Swieger and Mclaine
Bressctt.
The next meeting is February 18.

Ladies' Guild
The first meeting of the Lutheran
Ladies guild for 1989 was held Jan-
uary 11. .
Pastor Larry opened with prayer
and a poem.
The guest speaker for the evening
was Larry Weido, who brought
back a lot of fond memories t� the
group. He showed a film of Dash-
wood between 1952 and 1964,
showing how Dashwood has
changed over the years.
The January alter guild is Flor-
ence Martine and Kathryn Keller. A
donation was made to the Lutheran
Hour.
