Church board
meets Thursday

HENSALL - The Hensall United
Church board meets this Thursday.
The executive will start the even-
ing at 7 p.m., the committees at 8
p.m., and the full board will get to-
gether at 8:30.
The annual church meeting is
still going ahead on January 17,
starting with a pot -luck supper at
6:30 p.m.

Nellie Riley was the hostess for
the January 5 meeting at which
Dorothy Mickle gave a presenta-
tion on South AWica and its apart-
heid system, and the unsung cou-
rage of the black people.
Rev. Doug Wright and Elva For-
rest showed a film entitled "Black
woman and her problems".
Shuffleboard
The top three Mufflers on January
3 at the Hensall Community Centre
were Eileen Dowson, Pearl
McKnight, and .Alf Ross, with
scores of 465, 418, and 351. As al-
ways, anyone who thinks they can
do better is welcome to join in the
fun next Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Juniors - Junior skaters also had a go at a half-hour skate-a-thon
Saturday. About 30 participants in all raised about $500 which
will go toward club expenses. Next Saturday there will be a learn
to skate registration from 11:30-12 noon.

also their leader Chris Wilcox for
arranging the visit. December 22

Auxiliary dropped in to help pack-
age Christmas treats to be distrib-
uted to residents at our Christmas
Eve party. The saying "many hands
make light work" certainly proved
true.' Thank you very much to
these faithful ladies.
Our resident Christmas party was
a success with duets by Joyce Pep-
per and Carol Gascho, piano and
organ music by Bill Gibson and
Joyce Pepper, singing by several
carollers from the Zurich Mennon-
ite Church, and an appearance by
Santa Claus himself.
The draw was made for an af-
ghan and two quilts. Winners were
Ila Jory, Jane Allen and Laurene
Devine.

slide presentation by Oystcin Lund
