ZURICH - During these winter
months some of the senior men are
getting together a couple hours eve-
ry afternoon at the town hall to
play cards and games, while a lot
of the ladies around 'town are get-
ting ready to put quilts up and in-
vite friends and neighbours in to
help quilt. It. sure makes- a good
'winter hobby.
Figure skating
A skate -a -than at the arena Sato
urday netted about $500 for the Zu-
rich Figure Skating Club funds.
Thirty skaters fulfilled their spon-,
sors expectations: the senior and
intermediate girls skated 50 laps of
the. ice .surface, while the juniors
skated fora full half hour under the
supervision of club pro Marg Du-
lec•
The annual Carnival will be held
March 12.
A learn -to -skate registration for
beginning skaters is this Saturday
at the arena from 11:30 to 12 noon. '
Story Hour
Children at thc last story hour at
the library had fun hearing stories
about winter, playing a few games
and making a snowman out of
marshmallows to take home.

Golden glimpses
ZURICH - No doubt everyone
has settled down to a more quiet,
. normal state of living now that the
glitter of the Holiday . Season is
over and we have time to bring eve-
ryone up to date on our activities
here. . -
Fortunately, most of the residents
remained'healthy-over the holiday
season and a number of them were
able to spend some time at thcir
families homes. •

programs during the Christmas sea-
son, including the Bean Sprout
Nursery School, the Zurich Brown-
ies, the Public School students, the
Junior Choir from thc Dashwood
Lutheran Church, the Christian Re-.
formed Church Choir from Exeter,
the Youth of thc Lakeview Group -
Singers, and the Mennonite Choir.
January is usually a ratherquiet
month so perhaps some of these
groups might be able to return from
time to time to help banish the_.

On Tuesday. evening, the ladies
Auxiliary held their first meeting of
the new year: The installation of
new officers was conducted. by Rev:
Clayton Kucpfcr. Gladys Gingerich
took over - the presidency, from
Mary Lou Erb. Doug Desch played
the guitar and accompanied Sandra
McCarron and Delores Gingerich
who sang a duct. A trio consistifig
of Richard Gingerich, Peggy Gack-
stetter and Monica Gingerich played
the piano, flute and saxophone.
John Warner presided at-thc organ
and accompanied the audience while
they sang Auld Lang Sync.

McTaggart. (The business changed hands January
1, 1989).
