Plan skate-a-thon in Zurich, Saturday By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - A skate-a-thon at the Zurich Arena with members of the skating club will be held Saturday. The seniors will skate from 11:30 - noon, while the juniors will skate from 12:15-12:45. The skaters will be collecting sponsorship to raise money for the club. Bingo Bingo winners: Rose -Ann Over- holt won the mystery prize worth $125. Betty Kittar of Staffa won the jack -pot of $1000 and Annie Finkbeiner of Zurich were also re- cent winners of the bonanza worth $821. St. Boniface Has everyone got their tickets on the "Elimination draw" for the St. Boniface fund raising? Seventeen cash prizes with a total of $15,350 are to be won. Chances to win are going for $100 each and can be pur- chased from members of the fund- raising committee. The big draw will take place at the Parish dance on January 20 at the Pine Ridge Chalet near Hensall. Dance tickets are only $6 each. Knights of Columbus St. Boniface Knights of Colum- bus are holding their annual couples bowling night at the Town and Country Lanes on January 13. Cost is $12 per couple, including at least two games of bowling and a meal. Phone Doug Debus if inter- ested. Ladies Bowling Winners from tickets sold by the Ladies Bowling league Christmas draw were - Iva Reed of Hensall with a hand -made sweater, Nancy Melick of London won a stein and 12 pins and a "Turkey" was won by Joyce Bailey also of Hensall. Story Hour Story Hour at the library will re- sume for the winter months this —Thursday January 5 from 2-3 in the afternoon. Pre-school children are invited to enjoy an hour of stories, finger plays, games and crafts. This did you just lose a customer? Personals December 26 was the special day of Christmas celebration for the. family of Mrs. Seleda Steckle at the Blue -Water Rest Home Apts. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Denomme got together at the Arena on Christmas day and Mr. and Mrs. Clare Masse had a family dinner for Leo at St. Peter's parish hall. The Consist family held Christ- mas on December 24 at the home of Jim and Marion Consitt. Bill and Carol Butler'of Sarnia spent December 27 with her sister and family, Jerome and Carmel Sweeney. - Percy and Marie Bedard held their family Christmas dinner at the Community Centre on Sunday De- cember 18th for 85 family members who travelled to Zurich for the oc- casion. Joanne Thiel was home for the holidays from California visiting with her father, Keith Thiel and rel- atives. Pat and Barb O'Connor from Lake Bluff (Chicago) spent a week over the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Gerry Kane. A special guest over the Christ- mas holidays with the Klopp fami- ly was a visitor from Australia who spent a few days with Herb and Donna. Bob and Linda Earle and son An- drew of London treated parents Mr. and Mrs. Herb Klopp and grandson Tim to a New Year's Day dinner. Beth Sweeney was home for the holidays from the University of To- • ronto. She also enjoyed spending three days in Windsor visiting her aunts, cousins and grandmother. Don and Elaine Beauchamp and children spent last week in Pem- broke visiting with Don's parents and family. Dave and Melissa Beer and chil- dren from Ottawa spent New Year's Eve to January 2 in Hensall and Zu- rich visiting with Mrs. Lillian Beer and Mr. and Mrs. Mozart Gclinas Sr. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, are extended to Russell Grainger in Clinton Hospital and John Groot in St. Joseph's Hospital and to Joe Kenda Sr. in South Huron Hospi- tal.
