Have terms of reference To call for design
Moving toward sewer expansion
The first steps have been
taken towards expansion of
the sewage system serving
the village of Lucan.
The Ontario Ministry of
the Environment has for-
warded the terms of
reference for consultants for
the design of the expansion
program.
Counca will be selecting
several firms to supply bids
on preparing the necessary
design.
The present sewage
system is operating at near
capacity and further
development of the village is
frozen until expanded
sewage system facilities are
available.

Revision of Rates
For the Town of Exeter
Due to the higher cost of providing service the Exeter
Public Utilities Commission has found it necessary to
increase its electrical rates for 1980 as of January
1st
For a number of years Utilities in the province hove
benefited from excess revenue earned by Ontario
Hydro and passed along in the form of a credit to
the municipal Utilities. This was a requirement of the
Anti -Inflation Board.
Unfortunately this credit will no longer be available
in 1980, and although Ontario Hydro is raising the
wholesale rote 8.6 percent the loss of the A.I.B.
credit will result in a 16.4 percent increase for the
Utility. The Commission cannot absorb all of this in•
crease and must increase retail rates by ap-
proximatel. 10.1 percent.
Subject to Approval by Ontario Hydro

on a request from the
Middlesex Library depart-
ment for financial assistance
in the rental of the premises
for the present Lucan
library. The monthly rental
is being increased.
Reeve Ivan Hearn
suggested inquiries should
be made regarding library
arrangements with other
county municipalities.
Councillor Harry Wraith
commented, "I feel we
should help in some way. The
library is important to our
community.
The county library report
said there are 918 registered
library borrowers in Lucan
with 28,000 books circulated
in 1978.
Council gave approval to a
rise in the interest on tax
arrears to one and a quarter
percent per month.
Due to a satisfactory
probationary period, the
status of bylaw enforcement
officer Mrs. Vino Emery has
been changed to per-
manent.
The next meeting of
council will be held on

Greens , Hackers locked
in rec loop first place
By PAUL WRAITH
Neither the Greens nor
Hagen Hackers have sole
possession of first place after
this weeks games but instead
are tied for top spot by virtue
of the Greens loss and the
Hackers tie. The Hackers
tied 3-3 with the Blues and
Salon 174 defeated the
Greens 5-1.
The Blues and Hackers
traded goals throughout the
game with Blue's George
Ewer opening the scoring as
he picked up a loose puck in
front of the net and put it by
Chuck Fredin. Bill Boshart
tied it at 1 before the first
period ended as he knocked
in a rebound.
Three goals in two and a
half minutes, two by the
Blues, gave them a 3-2 lead.
Jeff Park scored a minute
into the second as he in-
tercepted a clearing pass
and scored from the slot.
Brett Fairweather came
back with a goal to tie it but
Mike Wraith capped the
scoring flurry to give the
Blues the edge with a
backhander. Brad Taylor
scored the tying goal by
taking the puck from a Blue
defenceman. Neither team
was able to score in the third
to break the tie. Blues had
numerous chances in the
final minutes but failed to
beat Fredin.
Salon 174's win over the
Greens was sparked by a
four point effort from Don
Murray, three from Don
Coughlin and two assists by
goalie Keith Ewer. Ewer's
assists are believed to be a
first in Rec League history.
Harry Wraith was the only
Green to beat Ewer and that
was early in the first as he
put a shot past Ewer on a
rebound. Coughlin started
Salon 174's surge as he beat
John Garrison on a hard
snap shot from the slot.
Murray, left alone in front
of the net, converted a pass
from Coughlin to give Salon
174 the lead. He came
right back as he intercepted
a clearing pass and then
Chris Mouritzen completed a
beautiful two on one break
with Murray. Murray
completed his hattrick as he
scored from behind the
Green's net.
Salon 174, once getting on
track, controlled the game
with steady netminding from
Ewer but without Don
Lankin to whom we wish a
speedy recovery. Don was
injured in last weeks game
but hopes to be back in a
couple of weeks to help Salon
174 out as they are now only
one point behind the Greens
and Hackers.
