Jets losing streak rises to
12 games in senior loop
The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
losing streak in the OHA
Continental senior league
rose to an even dozen games
this week.
Saturday. the Jets
travelled to Cambridge and
lost 8-4 to the Hornets and
Sunday night back on
Ilderton ice they were
defeated 6-2 by the Stratford
Perths.
Tonight. Wednesday. the
Jets travel to Chatham to
take on the Maroons and
Friday night they will play
host to the London Kings at
the Ildertor. arena. Game
time is 8:15 p m.
In both weekend games.
Jets coach Bill White was

11 skaters at his beck and
call. In each game. the Jets
played well in the first two
periods and were run over in
the final 20 minutes of play.
The only goal in the first
period of the Sunday game
came from the stick of Jamie
Robb on an unassisted effort
at 13.59 of the first period.
The Perths took over in the
scoring department in the
second period with three
unanswered goals. They
were fired by Dave Ferrede,
Brent Weblev and Eric
Brubacher.

Oliver Jaques, the
winner of $235 in our
50-50 draw.
Parkinson at 5.21 of the third
period. Again it was an
unassisted score.
Eric Brubacher scored two
goals and Alan Gates added
a single to complete the
Stratford scoring.
Despite the score, the two
teams were all even in two
other departments. Goalies
Peter Crosbie of L -I and
Dennis Thorpe of Stratford
each faced 33 shots and each
team took eight minor
penalties assessed by
referee Glenn Beech.
It was a similar situation
in Cambridge Saturday night
with the Jets playing ex-
tremely well for the first two
periods.
Scoring in single fashion
for the Jets were Ian
McTavish, Hugh Mitchell.
Rick Banks and Tom
Hodgins.
Mariners get three
of four points
The Grand Bend Mariners
gained three out of a possible
four points in two South
Huron hockey league games
this week.
Monday, the Mariners
dumped the Centralia
College Saints 5-3 and
Thursday they were held to a
4-4 tie by the Centralia
Marauders.
Three games are on tap in
the South Huron loop
tomorrow night, Thursday.
Grand Bend will be in
Hensall. Parkhill takes on
the Centralia Marauders at
Huron Park and the Zurich
Buckeyes visit the Exeter
Mohawks.
All proceeds from the
game at Huron Park will go
to the Walden family, recent
fire victims.

win again
The Zurich Buckeyes
continued their winning
streak as they edged the
Thedford Browns 3-2 in
Thedford Sunday.
The Buckeyes hit the score
sheet first at the 5.54 mark of
the initial stanza with Glen
Nicholson firing a shot past
Brad Hawkins in net for
Thedford. Pete Postill and
John Graham assisted.
Zurich picked up on the
only two goals of the second
period with Jim Murray
finding the range at 6.48. Ron
Desjardine and Randy
McKinnon picked the assists.
The Buckeyes jumped into
a three goal lead five
minutes later as Pat Bedard
scored unassisted.
The third period saw the
Browns mount a comeback
with the home team scoring
two goals.
Only fine goalkeeping by
Randy Oke enabled the
Buckeyes to preserve the
victory.
Zurich plays the Mohawks
of Exeter in Exeter Thur-
sday and travel south for a
game with Kettle Point
Sunday.
Scoring bunches
Scoring in Thursday 's
contest between Grand Bend
and Centralia came in
bunches. The Mariners
chalked up the first three
goals of the game, the
Marauders came back with
three of their own and each
team scored once in the final
20 minutes of play
Joe Falsetti of Grand Bend
opened the scoring at 7:34 of
the initial session on passes
from Pete Gil and Pete Gill.
Rick Moody upped the
Grand }3end lead to 2-0 at
10:05 as be converted a
pass from Mike Desjardine
and only nine seconds later
Pete Gil+with one 0 ) put the
puck into the Centralia net
with assists going to Pete
Gill with two I's) and Joe
Falsetti.
Blair Hearn, CecNickles
and Matt Muller combined to
take care of the three con-
secutive goals for the
Marauders to knot the score.
Hearn scored twice with
Nickles and Muller
providing the passes and
Nickles converted a pass
from Hearn.
With the score tied at 3-3,
Pete Gill completed a three-
way passing combination
with Pete Gil and Joe
Falsetti to put the Mariners
ahead at 6.58 of the third
period.
Near the halfway mark of
the period Cec Nickles
counted on an unassisted
effort to even the score for
the Marauders.
