Bantams lose in Ilderton Pee wees get three points, The Exeter bantams failed in their quest for the con- solation "B"championship at the Ilderton tournament, Sunday, losing to Belle River by a 4-0 count. The winners took a lead late in the first and then blew the tilt open with three more in the third. However, following that game, the locals moved on to Oakridge and posted a 3-2 win in Shamrock league play. It avenged a 1-0 loss at the hands of the same team at the rec centre, Wed- nesday. John Kernick scored all three goals for the winners on Sunday and they then had to hang on as the home crew came back with two in the third to make it tight. Ted Oke assisted on two of Kernick's goals, while Steve Batten helped out on one. Oakridge scored early in the third period to take the 1- 0 win, Wednesday, in an evenly played tilt that featured some good defensive work and net - minding by Exeter's Peter Dearing. Midgets win twice The local midgets won their only Shamrock outing this week and split a pair of exhibition contests. The Shamrock win was a decisive 7-2 triumph in Belmont, Friday. Pete Tuckey and Wayne Smith fired a pair each in that one with singles going to Tom Coates, Bill Fleming and Dave Shaw. Rick Lindenfield drew assist on two goals and helping out on one each were Dave Underwood, Jamie Chaffe, Coates, Tuckey and Shaw. The midget crew posted a 6-4 exhibition win over Forest at the rec centre, Sunday, after losing 6-3 to Mitchell in another exhibition, Wednesday. Mike Murray triggered a hat trick to pace the win over Forest, while Rick Lin- denfield added a pair and Dave Shaw fired the single. Pete Tuckey drew two assists to lead in that department. Lindenfield, Shaw and Smith scored in the loss to Mitchell. Waxers Nipped The Exeter Waxers still couldn't find the winning formula when they hosted Dorchester, Sunday, but they gave it one of their best shots of the season in taking a 3-1 setback. The local novice crew started out in high gear as Doug Clark dented the twine in the first minute. He won the face-off in the Dorchester zone and then slid the disc under the netminder's pads. However, Dorchester STEPHEN TOWNSHIP ARENA Power Skating School Final registration & first session Mon. Dec. 10 7-8 p.m. evened the count later in the first stanza when an Exeter defender inadvertently shot the puck into his own net. Sean Burns, the mainstay of the visiting team, then took over and blasted the winner into ttie net and he added an insurance tally in the third. Exeter hit two goal posts and slid several other shots just inches wide as they carried the play throughout much of the contest. Scoreless tie The Exeter and Lambeth atoms came up with a hockey rarity when they battled to a scoreless draw at the rec centre, Sunday. Scott Heywood and Fred Gregus shared the net - minding for Exeter and had to come up with several big saves to post the whitewash. The locals have scored only one goal in their last four games and missed a couple of good chances in the exciting battle. Give it a good try The Exeter midget II team suffered two defeats this week, but came up with one of their better performances to date as they were nipped 5-4 in Dorchester, Sunday. The other loss was a lopsided trouncing to Mt. Brydges. The locals had only 10 skaters for the Dorchester tilt, but they kept pace with their hosts throughout and came close to evening the count in the final stanza. Al Gaiser was a one-man scoring attack for the Exeter crew as he potted all four tallies. Two were unassisted, while Steve Prout and Kevin Parsons helped out on one other each. Good week The Exeter pee wees picked up three out of four points in their Shamrock loop tilts this week, posting a 3-3 tie against Oakridge at the rec centre, Wednesday, and then beating the same team 6-5 on the loser's ice, Sunday. Scott Bogart's second goal of the game with less than four minutes remaining knotted the count in the first encounter. Scott Lovie potted the single tally. Waxers George Pratt had a pair of assists, while helping on one each were Jeff Pfaff and Allan Pym. Atoms scoreless Times- Advocate, December 5, 1979 beaten Exeter scored twice in the final three minutes to win Sunday's game, although Oakridge narrowed the gap to one with only 33 seconds left. Steve Gould and Scott Lovie popped a pair each in the win, while Sean Whiteford and Marty Taylor notched the singles. Lovie and Gould also added a pair of assists, while helping out on one each were George Pratt, Brett Batten and John Wells. ■ Cut winter's work ■ Page 3A AUTOMOTIVE RADIATOR REPAIRS & RE -CORES SMALL ENGINE Sales & Service dI U MILT ROBBINS 0 & SON LTD. 1 263 MAIN ST.
