Paul Pooley of Exeter who played for the Kingston Canadians during the 1978.79 season was traded Wed- nesday along with Dave Clement for two players to the Kitchener Rangers. Following the Rangers' loss to the Canadians in Kitchener Saturday night, Pooley said the trade carne as a complete surprise to him. "I didn't expect they would trade their leading Clarke rink wins spiel A rink skipped by Art Clarke won the first draw of the first men's open bonspiel of the season Saturday at the Exeter curling club. Completing the roster of the winning Clarke rink were Jim Chapman, Brian Clarke and Dave Ste. Marie. Placing next• in the first draw were rinks skipped by Brian Falconer, Vanastra; Carl Kennedy, Sarnia and Bill Monro, Sarnia. Don Armstrong and his Forest foursome won the second draw championship. Next came rinks skipped by John Patterson, Seaforth; Garry Walters, Goderich and Ted Hunt, Exeter. scorer," Pooley said who had accumulated eight goals and 18 assists in 22 games. In his first game with the Emms division cellar dwellers, Friday, Pooley picked up an assist on the Rangers only goal of the game in their loss to Peterborough. Ranger coach Bob Ertel said his team was faced with the problem of working in the several new faces who had joined the club in recent weeks. "It'll take a game or two for everyone to fit in. It just wouldn't be fair at this point to assess the newcomers, but I would say that if you look at the trades realistically, we have better personnel now than we had before," Ertel said. While Pooley picked up no points in the game Saturday he was one of the better players on the ice with the centre iceman being robbed on two occasions by Kingston goalie Alvelino Gomez. The Exeter youngster who is in his final year of junior eligibility said he was quite tense going into the game. Pooley expressed op- timism that the Rangers could turn things around, saying that it was a very young club. Pooley has enrolled in a Kitchener high school where he'll finish up his grade 13 studies. w E w 0 R K 0 0Y u R No Job Too Small Call For Your Free Estimate Ask For Bill 234-6752 24 H O u R s HOOVER'S E PLUMBING & HEATING v 24 King St. N., Crediton Ontario NOM IMO C SCHEDULE E NOTICE The Mohawks 50-50 draw will be held Thursday night at our practice (due to no scheduled game).
