Mrs. Philip Johns. choir lady opened the meeting with the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The family and consumer affairs committee, Mrs. Howard Pym and Mrs. Theron Creery. were in charge. The International Year of the child was the theme. Mrs. Creery commented on the motto "What we make of our homes is more im- portant than what our homes are made of." Mrs. Pym introduced the guest speaker John Penn of the Family and Children's Service of Goderich. He spoke on the rights of a child including the subject child abuse. Mrs. Creery thanked Mr. Penn. Mrs. Pym reviewed the Rights of a Child which were on display in poster form and led in a fun song. Mrs. John was in charge of the business. The roll call was answered by "An event or activity your family en- joys sharing together." A bakeless bake sale followed. Mrs. Johns closed the meeting with a poem "Grandmothers" Several from the com- munity attended the Exeter area achievement day program, Saturday. A skit "Essentials of Needlepoint was presented by Elimville 1." Donna Kerslake and Kim Conlan of Elimville II were the commentors of an exhibit. "Essentials of Needlepoint. The children's story was told by Mr. Schott and the choir sang an anthem. Euchre party Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kooy and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Noels were in charge of the euchre party in the Com- munity Centre, Monday night with nine tables in play. The prizes were as follows - Ladies high score -Mrs. Joe Carter; Ladies lone hands- Desta Rock, low -Marie Branton. Men's high -Jack Dickins; Lone hands -Lawrence Hirtzel, low -Nelson Squire. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Borden Sn)yth spent the Remem- brance Day week -end with Mrs. Smyth's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chas McKinnon and family in Scarborough. Miss Arlene Newcombe, Drayton Plains, Michigan, was a week -end guest with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Essery, Rob and Ruth Ann. Sunday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Borden Smyth were Mr.andMrs. Bill Shrigley and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Cushman and son, London. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Smyth visited in London with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Alderson and with Mr. and Mrs. James Warrack of Winnipeg who were guests in the Alderson home. Mrs. Alderson and Mrs. Warrack are aunts of Mrs. Smyth. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowden on Tuesday of last week were Mrs. Evelyn Parker, Harriston and Mr. and Mrs.Melvin Stade, Dash- wood. Senior citizens 'net in the Community centre Monday for an afternoon of Crokinole and cards followed by lunch.
