Hensall mills work around the clock
The Hensall mills have
been very busy during the
fine days with the corn
harvest which is bountiful
this season. The semi trucks,
trailers, and wagons have
ben lined for blocks unto
Main street waiting to
unload, which keeps the
mills running twenty-four
hours a day.
Will resume practice
Rev. Kenneth Knight
conducted the service in
Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. Mrs.
Robert Taylor presided at
the organ during the service
of song. Choir practice will
be resumed on Thursday
evening and all members or
those interested in joining
the choir are invited to at-
tend. Communicants class
will be Wednesday evening
at 8:00 p.m.
Calendars are for sale
Rev. Stan McDonald
hosted the regular meeting
of United four Hensall
U.0 W. at the manse on
Thursday with 28 members
attending. The devotional.
conducted by Mrs Arthur
Slade. was based on John 3.
verse 16 and following her
comments. she closed with a
reading, "One set of foot-
prints" and with all singing

Mrs. Cliff Britton read a
poem. "Worship the Lord"
and then Mrs. Harold Parker
of the Chistehurst U.C.W.
gave an inspiring study on
Stewardship, using several
Bible passages to remind us
of our responsibilities as
stewards of the Lord.
It was reported that 58
visits had been made to sick
and shut-ins and that the 1980
United Church calendars are
ready for sale. Mrs. Britton
closed the meeting with the
benediction and Mrs.
Clarence Parke and her
committee served lunch.

choirs
On Sunday evening, the
people of Hensall enjoyed a
return visit of two choirs. the
Brant Belle "A" Dears
ladies choir with ac-
companist. Mrs Elsie Hall
and the Brant Men of Song
with accompanist Mrs.
Patricia Bohemier Both
choirs are directed by Mr.
Gary Woodward and com-
bined to present an evening
of music of sheer enjoyment

joy, humor, oratorical and
lyrical were sung. The
combined choirs. the ladies
choir and the men's choir all

classical. amusing ditties.
light-hearted folk songs.
songs of the nineties, modern
songs like "Amazing Grace".
in yet another arrangement
by John Coates Junior and
concluded with Canadian
National Songs. "Something
to sing about", "They all call
it Canada" and others.
The Brant Belle "A"
Dears ladies choir has sung
from Great Britain to
Vancouver Island and their
accompanist is the organist
at Alexandra Presbyterian
Church in Brantford. The
Brant Men of Song have sung
in Hamilton Place,
Hamilton. Paris. Ontario
and once before in Hensall
among many engagements.
In the spring, the combined
choirs will be putting on a
concert in Brantford in
tribute to Walt Disney and in
ensall

4- H work on
coasters
On Tuesday, October 30
the Hensall two, the
Needlepointers, held another
meeting. The meeting
opened with the Pledge and
then went into the learning
business. Mrs. Belva Fuss
demonstrated how to block
our needlepointed coasters
after they were finished, but
since not all members had
finished, more work was
done on them. All coasters
are to be blocked for the next
meeting.

theme was. "The rights and
responsibilities of the child"
and Mrs. Keith Hiepler from
Springfield conducted the
meetings with Mrs Gordon
Papple of Seaforth assisting
for the Friday afternoon
session. The only resolution.

Church in Hensall was
conducted by Mr. Ross
Hargreaves of Thames Road
with Dr. Ralph Topp at the
Organ. Mrs. Carol Stewart of
Exeter sang a solo. "Turn.
turn. turn" and the sermon
was on "Power on com-
mand". The exercising of
power is widespread among
the population of today.
demonstrated in farm
machinery. the elements and
many other ways.
Remembrance Sunday
Next Sunday will be
Remembrance Day with
services for Hensall and
district in the,Hensall United
Church at 11 a.m. followed
by a parade and service at
the Cenotaph -

4-H club. the Needle Beetles.
was held on October 30. The
meeting was opened with the
4-H Pledge followed by the
secretary's report. Roll call
was then answered by
showing a picture of the
stitches learned in 4-H to be
used in a picture. Diane then
demonstrated to the seniors
how to finish off their
pillows. Afterward she
demonstrated to the juniors
how to finish their coasters.
The meeting was then ad-
journed until November 6.

HENSALL BANTAMS GET CRESTS — The Henson bantams enjoyed a successful year of
softball in a district softball league this post season. Monday, Team captains Paul Smale,
Jeff Rowe and Dave Rowcliffe received crests from coaches Jim Ferguson and Steve
Knight.
