ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED -- Mr. and Mrs. Ashley (Joe)
Smith, Exeter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sun-
day with an Open House at the Exeter Legion hall. The couple
was married October 29. 1929 at Centralia -United Church by
Rev. Irwin. Mrs. Smith was the former Irene Davey. They resid-
ed in the Centralia area until moving to their Exeter home in
1945. They hove one daughter Mrs. Arnold (Shirley)
Campbell, Exeter, six grand children and seven great

CELEBRATE 50 YEARS — Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Ted)
Chambers of Exeter celebrated their 50th wedding anniver-
sary, Sunday with an Open House at the Stephen Community
.Centre in Crediton. Edward Chambers and Mary Maguire
were married October 30, 1929 at Trinity Anglican Church in
Ailso Craig by Rev. G. Moore. They farmed on Concession 8
of Stephen township until moving to their present home in Ex-
eter in 1959. They have three daughters, Mrs. Lorne (Joyce)
Preszcator, Crediton: Mrs. Bill (Patricia) Priestley, Tilbury and'

MR. AND MRS. ROBERT PERTSCHY
Margaret Theresa O'Neill and Robert Franz Pertschy were un-
ited in marriage by Pastor Jack Dressler at Zurich Lutheran
'Church on September 15. Marg is the daughter of Grant and
Jean O'Neill, Crediton and Robert is the son of Steve and
Erika Pertschy, Crediton. Debbie Lord was matron of honour
while Sandy O'Neill, Elizabeth Pertschy and Nancy Knowles
were bridesmaids: Best mon was Darrel Finkbeiner and Tim
O'Neill, Ray Sheldon and Jim McGee ushered. Following a

A meeting of Alpha Pi
Sorority was held at the
home of Janice Brock
October 2. Ann Baynham
and Anmarie Hoffman of the
Ways and Means committee
thanked everyone who
helped and supported the car
wash September 29.
A very interesting
program was presented by
Susanne Strang, titled
"Morals and Mores." Lunch
was served by hostess Janice
Brock.
October 16 Alpha Pi met at
the home of Kenley Camp-
bell. President Susanne
Strang reported that Barb
Ballantyne, Sandra Camp-
bell, Nancy Chambers and
Susan Moore, our four
prospective pledges will be
joining Alpha Pi.
Plans were made for the
ritual dinner which will be
held at the home of Mrs. Earl
Campbell November 6.
The program for the
evening titled "Social
Behaviour" was presented
by Marilyn Williamson. A
very interesting and in-
formative film on Child
Abuse was shown and
discussed. The meeting
closed with coffee and
dessert served by co -hostess
Susanne Strang.
Lodge members
attend trienium
Several in the area at-
tended the International
General Grand Chapter
Trienium, Order of the
Easter Star which was held
at the Royal York Hotel and
the Coliseum in Toronto,
October 21-25.
It was the first time in 30
years that it has been held in
Toronto as the Most Worthy
Grand Matron Mrs. Mabel
Mackereth is a native of
Toronto.
Those attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Don Gaiser and
Mrs. Bernice Boyle, Dash-
wood, Mrs. Evelyn Scott
Grand Bend, Mrs. Jean
Mills Mrs. Kathleen
lfodge-_ rt, Mrs. Alice May and

California in 1982.

chapter of Beta Sigma Phi,
Sorority October 23. A
general business meeting
followed by a welcome to a
transfer member by the
chapter.
There was a discussion
with regards to the "Block
Parent Programme" being
initiated in Exeter. Further
information will be available
at the next meeting.
Christmas plans were also
finalized.
The programme entitled
"Canadian Literature" was
presented by Jay Skillender
and Linda Farquhar with
slides and readings included
in the presentation Etre&
was served by Heather
Rogers.
Church women
to send money
The October Women's
Ministries group of Exeter
Pentecostal Tabernacle met
at the home of Mrs. Ray Erb
October 25. Mrs. Keith
McLaren presided over the
service. -
Mrs. Meine Eizenga led in
the singing of the Hymns.
This was accompanied on
the organ by Mrs Elmer
Desjardine. Mrs. Beulah
Desjardine prayed.
Business was transacted in
which the ladies decided to
send gifts of money to Rev.
and Mrs. Markham in
Thailand and to Rev. and
Mrs. Alex Strong in
Rhodesia.
Mrs. Meine Eizenga gave
a Missionary Reading en-
titled "The Wordless Book."
The roll call was given by
Mrs. Milford Prouty and
answered by a scripture
verse on "Daughter."
There were -14 present.
Mrs. Roy Erb gave a special
in which she related a
happening in which God had
answered her prayer.
Mrs. Edith Millar had the
message for the afternoon in
which she read a testimony

WIN SILVER MEDAL
Miss Cathy Learh,
daughter of Mr.. and Mrs.
Fred Learn Carleton Place,
danced at the Ottawa
Highland Competition
Saturday and won a Silver
Medal. She is the grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Learn and Jean Allen,
Exeter.
MR. AND MRS. JACK VLEMMIX
Margaret Alice Parsons and Jacobus Vlemmix were united in
marriage on October 6, of Exeter United Church. The wed-
ding ceremony was conducted by Rev. Forsythe. Marg is the
daughter of Mr and Mrs. Frayne Parsons, Hensoll and Jock is
the son of Mr and Mrs. Mortin Vlemmix of London. Attending
the bride was Evelyn Kroke as matron of honour and
bridesmaid's were Jo -Ann Shute, Ann Morley and Barb Par-
sons. Best man was Jim Martin and guests were ushered by
Scott Shute, Phi Klinkhomer and Murray Parsons. The couple
