T -A photo Beat Cambridge in overtime Jets gain Continental split The Lucan-llderton Jets split a pair of OHA Con- tinental senior games this week but were able to defeat one of the strongest teams in the league and up their season record to three victories and four defeats. Wednesday night the Jets got off to a bad start and lost 8-4 to the Stratford Perths. The situation was different on Ilderton ice Friday night as the Jets came up with a strong performance and edged the Cambridge Hornets 5-4 in overtime. Cambridge, the newest team in the league competed last year in the Canadian International hockey league which has folded for at least one year. This week the Jets will see action on only one occasion. Friday night they meet their arch rivals for many years, the Durham Huskies at the Ilderton arena at 8:15 p.m. Robb robs Hornets Ed Robb scored at the 37 second ,mark of sudden - death overtime to give the Jets their 5-4 Friday victory over Cambridge. Despite holding a one goal margin through the first two periods of play, the Jets were forced to come back with a goal in the last eight seconds of the third period to force overtime. The game was only a minute and 16 seconds old when Jamie Robb put the Jets in front on a three-way combination with Barry Baynham and Bruce Red - dick. Bruce Reddick shot the L -I club ahead 2-0 at 15:44 with assists going to Ed Robb and goalie Peter Crosbie. The two goal margin lasted for only seven seconds as Rick Molinaro scored for Cam- bridge. Each team scored one goal in the middle frame. Bruce Reddick notched his second goal of the night for the Jets on a play started by Randy Kraut and Rick Banks while Dave Peace replied for the Hornets. Bad clearing passes in the Jets end of the rink led to the Cambridge tying and go - •ahead goals. Hornets playing coach Dave Cressman tied the score at 3-3 at 3:04 and 12 minutes later, Bob Peace with his second successful shot gave his club a one goal lead. With less than a minute to go, Jets coach Bill White pulled goalie Peter Crosbie and sent six men to the at- tack. The move paid off as Tom Hodgins scored with only eight seconds left. The assist went to Ed Robb. Before the L -I home crowd Lucan evens set with Centennials Lucan, playing at home, forced a third and final game for the Ausable soccer B championship by defeating Exeter Centennials 2-1 in. overtime, Sunday. The score was drawn 1-1 after 90 minutes regular time, and the clubs played additional time of two 15 - minute halves to resolve it. Exeter had led the three - game points final by taking the first match 4-0 at Can- ner's field last Sunday. The tie goals were scored within a minute of each other in the first half of the full game. Lucan's Pete Bakker hit in a long shot at 24 minutes. The reply to it came one minute later when Exeter's Al Hern tipped in a relay by Mike Janyu of a corner -kick from Centennial centre -forward Martin DeBruyn. Lucan opened-_ at two. minutes of the first overtime half with a header from Bob Andrews. Then,, at 10 minutes, Exeter's Martin +wicf.TA-uy'ti-hit-a- direct fre-- kick over -a defensive wall and into the Lucar. net with a perfect chip shot. But Jeff Craigmile finally put it away for Lucan with a score of six minutes of the second -overtima-half.
