Optimist Hans Harms was responsible for bringing in the group. The band members were all steel workers at a plant in Austria. For the majority of them, this was their first visit in Canada. The band is touring Ontario, and their stops in Bosanquet were part of an itinerary that included Toronto,- Hamilton, Kitchener, Sault'Ste. Marie Pinery OPP -Pinery detachment of the 'Ontario Provincial Police laid seven charges under the liquor licence act during the week of September 30 to October 6. Grand Bend church news The ladies group of at. Johns met Thursday af- ternoon in the Parish hall with 13 attending. Thelma Brosseau was in charge of the meeting. Final plans were made for a progressive euchre party to be held in the Parish hall October 25. 800 p.m It was unaminously passed that $500.00 be sent for in- sulation funds of the church. The ladies discussed the idea of having movies in the hall in the summer season for young children. Tea and sandwiches were served at the close of the meeting.' Church of God news A 60 plus fellowship supper was held Monday evening at Church of God with 15 at- tending. They plan to meet again in November and organize a group. Church of God ladies met last Wednesday evening for their October meeting. Visitors were present from Powasson and Michigan. Fifteen answered the roll call by telling, "Something you have done for someone recently." Mrs. Harold Chamberlain led the workship on 'Thanksgiving. Janet Desjardine also gave a message on Thanksgiving. President, Mrs. Katie Vincent conducted the business. Lunch hostess was Mrs.. Deanna MacGregor. A good number of people attended. 30th anniversary services, morning and evening at Church of God. Special speaker at this time was Dr. W.E. Reed. of Anderson, Indiana. who is executive secretary for Church of God. Morning prayer was led by Mr. Gar Myers, of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, former resident ,tf this area. Special music at the morning service was a duet by Rev. John, and Betty Campbell. singing, "God's wonderful people." Special music in the evening featured numbers from the German Church of God. in Kitchener. Lunch and fellowship hour followed the evening service. During the coming week other Church of God minister's will be corning to meet Dr. Reed during his stay in Grand Bend. United church news Special service at the United church Sunday morning. combined annual National Thanksgiving, World Wide Communion and Reception of new members. Rev. H. Moore's sermon topic was "It is good to give thanks to the Lord," with scripture from Psalm 92:Verses 1-5. Choir anthems today were •'We thank Thee Our Father" and "These Holy Things." Members received by transfer to Grand Bend United church today were Mrs. David (Debbie) Desjardine, Mr. and Mrs. Allison Goudey, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mrs. John (Patricia) Murdock and Mrs. Ruby Smith. There will be no church service at Grand Bend next Sunday October 14, due to the 104th anniversary ser- vices at Greenway United. Sunday school as usual at Grand Bend. Rev. H. Moore expressed congratulations and best wishes to William Love, on the occasion of his birthday, and to Jim and Alma Prance who were married 60 years ago, October 8th. The World Outreach Workshop will take place at Parkview United Church, Stratford, October 13, from 9-4:30. Bring a bag lunch. A concert featuring Kris and Ron Klusmeier- in a family "sing -a -long" concert will be held on october 27th at Main St. United Church, Mitchell. at 7:30 p.m.. $2.50 for adults: $1.00 for children 6-16. Colonials come back After their first loss of the season last week. the Grand Bend "Colonials" socger team made a come back in the continuing play offs. In their first game Sunday they beat West Williams three to one. Pete Backx. Bill Van- denberk. and John Mennen scored the goals. That win put the teams in a tie position at one game 4—H stitch,GOIdefl Agers plan trip The "Nifty Needlers" 4-H club no 1 of Grand Bend held meeting three, Tuesday evening at Liz Martins home. Roll call was answered by bringing a picture of what you would like to see in Needlepoint, by 12 members. At work period the girls learned cross stitch. Next meeting will be at Tammy Durand's home. The "Rolling Coasters," 4 - club no. 2, met Tuesday `evening at leader Marg Desjardine's home with all members present, for meeting four. Roll call was to name, "One idea tor your club's presentation at Achievement Day." At this needlepoint work session the girls learned the scotch and cashmere stit- ches. - Next meeting will be October 9th at Marilyn Walper's home. Reported by Christine Boogemans. Golden Agers meet About 35 attended the Grand Bend Golden Age club October meeting, at the Anglican Parish hall, last Wednesday afternoon. President, Mary Ravelle apiece, so it was decided that a extra half hour be played to break the tie. Grand Bend dominated that additional play three - nothing. Again Pete Backx scored, with singles from Dave Nolan and Kevin Simmonds. Next Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Nairn will be in Grand Bend for the finals.
