Graham, concerning Nutrition and Weaning. The mothers became aware of the values of a varied diet and natural foods. The identification of four grains in various forms was en- joyed by all. The statement by the Canadian and American Pediatric Society that breastmilk was the superior nutrition for infants up to six months was reviewed. It was recommended that solids be addded gradually. beginning with bananas and meats. A social hour followed. The LLL Belgrave group will meet every third Tuesday of the month. Their f;. meeting w held at the liuxee of Mrs. J7 Casemore, with the topic of discussion, Benefits of Breastfeeding to Mother and Child. being lead by Mrs 13. Kerr. The mothers emphasized the perfection ofbreastmilk in helping a healthy baby grow to his greastest potential. and felt that the nursing relationship created a ,ecial f^eling of closeness and love. After the meal, Dave Parsons was in charge of the program. Trophies ,were presented to Jim Siddal, Steve Francis and John Kernick. Each member of the team received amedallion from Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gower, the manager and secretary. Steve Francis and Jim Siddal presented gifts to the coaches Dave Parsons. Richard Miller, score keeper Mrs. Andy Miller, and to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gower on Legion Auxiliary plan many events The Ladies Auxiliary to the R.E.Pooley . Exeter Branch l67: Royal Canadian Legion held their first meeting of the fall Sep- tember 24 in the Legion Hall with 32 members present. President Dawn Murray. was in charge of the business. Plans where made for upcoming sports activities. Cribbage. September 25 at Kincardine. euchre October 2 at Goderich, bowling October 14 at Exeter. bowling October 24 at Petrolia and darts October 211 at Blyth. One team from Exeter placed third in a bowling tournament in Kincardine, September 5, also 3 teams entered In Lucan Tour- nament September 26 -placed first and second. The Building Committee Shop In Exeter reported on the renovations to take place in the Auxiliary room. A donation of $25 each was made to the Salvation Army and the Cystic Fibrosis. Shirley Smith won the mystery prize. The next meeting will be Monday October 22 at 8.30 when Zone Commander Peg Coombs from Seaforth will make her official visit and will mark the Auxiliary's28th Anniver .dry. behalf of the team. Andy Miller made the draw for the 50-50 draw with Joan Skinner the lucky winner. Euchre was enjoyed by everyone. 4-H Club The second meeting of Elimville two 4-H club was held on September 19 at the Kerslake residence. The rpeeting opened with the pledge led by the president and roll call with members showing their ideas for needlepoint free choice art idea. Mrs. Judy Johns showed possible ways to thread a needle. This was followed by learning the gobelin stitch and the continental stitch. Each girl chose a monogram to put on her canvas. Lori and Donna Kerslake served a cold drink. The third meeting was held September 26 at the home of Kim Colin. Roll call was each telling about the colour scheme she has chosen as the free choice article. The juniors answered by naming their favorite colour and colours they would put with it. Leaders showed the two stitches for the night the bargello stitch and the cross stitch. The girls discussed information on the free choice articles and how to transfer a design unto- a canvas . Kim and her mother served a light snack and a cold drink. 4-H meeting The second meeting of the Nifty Needlers, Elimville I, was held September 25 at the home of Marg and Elaine Pym. There were 12 girls in attendance with the leaders. The two stitches the continental and gobelin were Learned. The leaders showed how to do the stit- ches. • The next meeting for the Nifty Needlers is to'be held on the evening of October 2 at 7.30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Shirley Prance. Mrs. Glenn Stewart presided and opened the meeting with the opening ode, and Mary Stewart Collect. Roll Call was answered by a familiar autumn sound. An invitation was read from Hensall W.I. to a dessert October 17 at 1:30. Ann Brodie was selected as a delegate to the Area convention to be held in St. Mary's November 1 and 2. Mrs. Jean Pooley gave the hospital report. The fall rummage sale is to be held October 18. A meeting of the Historical Society is to be •hekl in Kirkton October 17 at 8 p.m. It was voted to seqd $100. rn the Woodstock tornado luno Fern Dougall chaired the program for Agriculture and Canadian Industries. Mrs. Jean Pooley gave the motto •'Nature never spoils her work by being in a hurry •' Hazel Snell gave current events. Louise Oke and Ann Brodie conducted a musical contest. A moments silence was held in memory of the passing of two valued members. Mrs. Edna Passmore and Mrs. Mary Carter. Mrs. Cora Miners of Exeter gave a demon- stration on drying, pressing and framing of flowers.
