Sorority welcomes two members
The Beta Theta Sorority
held their opening meeting
for the 1979-80 season in the
form of a chinese dinner\ at
the home of- Mary Jane
Taylor.
Following dinner, two
members entering the
chapter received their
Ritual Degrees. They are
Louise Giffin and Beth
Jamieson who progressed
from Xi Gamma Nu chapter.
Plans were discussed
about a Christmas Party to
be held December 11 and a
Christmas bazaar,
November 27.
Elsie Tuckey reported that
the Rec Centre has been
booked for the annual spring
dance. s -
Programme chairperson
Elaine Bogart introduced the
programme for the coming
year. The topic would be
"Roots". explaining that you
could build your programme
around your own roots or
that of someone else who is
of interest 10 you.
It was announced that six
members would attend a

Mini convention to be held in
London. September 29.
Many new features
for ciderfest event
This Sunday , the Van
Egmond Foundation is
throwing a huge party on the
grounds of the historic Van
Egmond House in Egmond-
ville. The 5th annual
ciderfest is bigger and better
this year and features the
sale of both hot and cold
cider made on the spot from
fresh apples.
Cider -making will be
accompanied by demon-
strations of sausage -stuffing,
spinning, weaving. pioneer
blacksmithing and other
crafts, as well as a large
outdoor flea market. This
year the Ciderfest boasts a
flower festival of beautiful
blooms from local gardens
and a gallery of paintings
presented by the Central
Ontario Artists' Association.
A special preview of the
Art and Flower Shows is
scheduled for Saturday,
September 29 from 1 p.m.
until 5. House tours will
acquaint the visitors with the
recent restoration work
undertaken by the Foun-
dation and with the excellent
period antiques assembled
in the historic home:
For those of an active
nature, there will be a log -
sawing and nail -driving
contest, while anyone can
enjoy the afternoon old-tyme
country jamboree or the
scenic horse and wagon
rides. An auction of antiques
and other collectibles will
round out the afternoon, with
all proceeds going to the
restoration work.
Admission to the grounds
will be only $1, with children
under 12 admitted free with
'an adult. The gates open
Sunday September 30 from
12 noon until 5 p.m. in
Egmondville, 2 km South of
Seaforth on Huron County
Road number 12.
During the service in the
Clandeboye United Church
Sunday, awards were
presented to the children for
. attendance at Sunday School
in the past year.
Congratulations to Anne
and Rick Rollings on the
arrival of a son, Nathan
Andrew, Born in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, Tuesday,
September 18. A brother for
Wesley. Anne and the new
baby came home from the
hospital on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Rea Neil
attended the funeral of their
cousin, Ivy Adams, of Ailsa
Craig at the Stephenson
Funeral Home, Saturday.
Art and Jean Hodgins
attended the "Parade of
Yearlings" at the Cuddy
Farms, Strathroy and.
Seelster Farms, Lucan
Sunday.
