PETER MARTIN CREDITON Wednesday evening a large number of Women's Institute members and friends enjoyed a lovely pot luck supper in the town hall. After the meal business was conducted by president Mrs. Gearld Dearing. A new clock for the W.I. room was purchased and was hung in the room. Thelma Finkbeiner read the motto, "The Rights of A Child." Anita Finkbeiner, Deane Dearing, Ruth Ann and Lisa Martin sang, "Let there Be Peace on Earth," and "Up Up With People," Lois Hodgins accompanied them. Dolores Shapton, chairlady drew members attention to a poster, drawn by one of the girls in residence at the John St. home in Exeter. The drawing was on the year of the child theme and was very well done. Mrs. Shapton introduced the guest speaker from the evening. Mrs. May McKeever an institute member from Ireland. Mrs. McKeever brought greetings from the Institute in Ireland and spoke on various projects which her group has been doing for the year of the child. Mrs. Earl Neil thanked Mrs. McKeever and Mrs. Gladys Wein presented her with a gift. To close the program a song written especially for "The Year of The Child" was sung in unison. Honour Couple Saturday evening the Crediton, Firemen's Association and their wives fetedone of there members, Robert and Marg Pertschy, newlyweds. Progressive , euchre was played. Winners were, Ladies High, Mrs. Peter Martin, Ladies Lone Hands, Mrs. Doug Lightfoot, Ladies Low, Mrs. Larry Jones, Mens High and Lone Hands Charlie Browning Sr. and Mens Low John Pritchard. Chief Charlie Browning Jr. presented Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pertschy with a lovery engraved clock and silver rose bud vase and ro.e on behalf of the Firemen and their wives. A barbecue lunch was then enjoyed by all. Shipka school mates reminisce at reunion By MRS. Mr. and Mrs. Fermon Snyder attended the wed- ding, last Thursday, of his niece Erma Martin, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Cleason Martin, to .Mervin Weber, at Elmira. The wedding and reception supper following was held at the bride's parents home. Those from this area who attended a surprise family gathering of Corbett and Morenz relatives, in honor of Ross and Donna Corbett's 25th wedding anniversary, held Sunday night at the home of Ross's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Corbett of Hensall, were Don and Liz Adams, Roy and Mae Morenz, Grand Bend, Bill Maier and Jean, from Mio Michigan, and Hugh and Annie. Morenz. Bonnie Erickson returned home from St. Joseph's hospital last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fahrner, Sudbury, visited over the week -end with Rev. and Mrs. Armin Schlenker. Stephen Township reeve, Kenn Campbell and his wife June, attended the R.T.A.C. (Road Transportation Associaton Convention in Saskatchewan last week. Sympathy is extended to Kenn Campbell for the loss of his brother, Lloyd Camp- bell this week. Sorority gals learn from local weaver The Alpha Pi ' Sorority chapter met at the home of Anne Marie Hoffman. This was a model meeting for prospective new members. Kenley Campbell presented Mrs. Ena deHaan who spoke on the art and history of weaving. A business portion followed with a discussion on the blood donors clinic which will be held October 11 at the South Huron Rec Centre. Plans were also made by the Ways awl Means com- mittee to have a car wash at the Save U Gas Bar on October 29. The meeting concluded with tea and coffee and a delicious dessert made by co -hostess Lois Godbolt. The chapter executive surprised the members with a kidnap breakfast Sunday morning which was served at the home of Sharon 'McNeilly.
