Mrs. Laird Mickle presided at the piano for the singing of "0 Canada" after which everyone joined in CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SUNDAY OBSERVED Christian Education Sunday was observed in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday conducted by Rev. Kenneth Knight who spoke on "Supporting the Church's Educational Program". He also ad- dressed the Sunday School classes and teachers.' Mrs. Clarence Volland presented seals and diplonos to the Sunday School members for attendance, and a Bible to Jerry Raber for perfect attendance. The VanWieren sisters Teresa, Audrey and Carol Ann favoured with three songs, the latter ac- companied on the guitar. Mrs. Rotten Taylor presided at the organ for the service of song. Chiselhurst UniUed Church will observe heir an- niversary on Sunday Sep- tember 30th with Rev.Stan McDonald in charge. The President Bertha MacGregor presided and welcomed everyone and introduced Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Blackwell who joined the group. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the late Mrs. Jessie McAllister after which the president gave a poementitled "The Tale of a TWilight Bell". The Treasurer Mrs. Bert Horton gave her report and also reported Mrs. Sarah Simp- son and Mrs. Jessie Arm- strong audited the books. The roll call was answered by the payment of dues. Cards of Thanks were read. Mr. Alf. Ross spoke on behalf of the shuffle -board for Mrs. A. Shirray who was unable to attend and a vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. Shirray for the effort and time she spent for the committee in arranging activities. The president thanked Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs. E. Davis for the work and time they spent on the bus trip to Ottawa. A report of the 21st annual convention which was held in Kingston was given by Mrs. Ruby Bell, delegate and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor, delegate. - They thanked the mem- bers for sending them to attend this convention and gave. highlights of the sessions and reported a most enjoyable trip and. en- tertainment. Over seven hundred at- tentled the banquet at which the Hon. Miss Flora. Mac- Donald Minister of External Affairs was the guest speaker. A donation was voted to the "Boat's People and the Woodstock people". Mrs. E. Davis spoke on behalf of relatives with residents in the Queensway nursing home asking if the group would be interested in sponsoring "Candy Stripers" for the home. The matter was held over for a later discussion. Mrs. Pearl Koehler was reappointed "Card Convener". Mrs. Ruby Bell and Mrs. Elizabeth Riley were in charge of progressive euchre which followed. There\as over 100 people attendin the dinner which was catered by the Hensall ladies' Legion Auxiliary... Mozart Gelinas and his Melody Maker supplied the music for the dance which followed.
