Liz Mavity tops list
Honor top women golfers
The golf club ladies closing
luncheon was held at Oak-
wood, September 11 with a
good attendance. -
Liz Mavity was the overall
winner of the match play
tournament and was
presented a trophy by
Rollie's pro shop.
"A" flight loon by Viki
Taylor. runner up was Helen
Davidson.
"B" flight won by Liz
Mavity. runner up was
Harriet Wilson.
"C" flight won by• Marian
McFadden, runner up was
Peg McFadzean
Most improved during the
season were Nan Cumming
and Edna Marshall.
"Ringer" prizes - ''A"
group awarded to •Viki
Taylor and Olga Keay for
gross
Los net' to Betty Tim-
merman and Mary
Ferguson.
"B" group - Nan Clamming
and Mary Wallen for gross.

4-H club news
Grand Bend 4-11 club
number 2 met Wednesday
night at Karen Woods' home.
Eight -girls answered the roll
call by "Showing a design of
an idea for a needlepoint free
choice article."
Margie Larkin was elected
1st vice president.
A club name was discussed
but not decided yet.
They learned how to graph
their initial. also doing the
Continental and Gobelin
,stitch.
Next meeting to be at
Christine Boogeman's home.
Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
4-H elects officers
Grand Bend 4-11 club
number 1 met last Tuesday
evening for their
organization meeting at
leader Rita Smits home
Assistant leader is
Margaret Smits.
Officers elected for -this
club were president - Trish
Vandenbygaard; vice
president - Rose Van-
denberk: secretary - to be
rotating and press reporter
is Liz Martens.
The leaders demonstrated
how to line out the blocks on
canvas and the kind of yarn
to get for their Needlepoint.
W.I. to meet
The first fall meeting of
Grand Bend Women's
Institute will be held
Thursday evening 7:30 p.m
in the sundae school rooms
of -the United church.
The topic will be Family
and Consumer affairs with
convener Ann Russell in
charge.
Ann will be demonstrating
a heart monitor used on
young babies that detect
stoppage of their breathing.
Roll Call will be. A new
product I have used and
liked.

The United•Church women
met Thursday afternoon in
the Sunday School rooms for
.their September meeting
President. Eleanor Dune
opened with a poem
Eighteen ladies answered
the roll call by telling.

The Thanksgiving

p.m. The fall Regional is to
be held at Elimville United
Church. October 9th at 9 30
a.m.
Marjorie Mason conducted
the worship service which
opened by all singing the
hymn "Love Devine

Mrs. Grace Pym. of Elim-
ville who has the office of
Leadership Development for
South Huron Presbytery.
She discussed kinds.
qualities and assets of
leaders She told us a good
leader does not do the work
of ten women. but has ten
women working for her She
asked "Do we give all
members an opportunity to
express themselves?" We
should be a good listener and
learn to be a talent scout.
God has a purpose for each
one of us.
We should encourage
members to attend
regionals. Westminster
weekend and Alma school
for women. -
