SUMMERS GRANTON Court Valentine Canadian Forester's met at the Mason's Hall on Tuesday with Sister Melba St. Dennis presiding and opening court. During the business session, donations were voted to the Woodstock tornado victims, and to the Western Ontario Provincial Assembly cancer project which is a whirlpool bath. Sandra Hern gave a very informative and interesting report on the recent national convention held at the Holiday Inn in London. Plans were finalized for the pot luck supper and craft display October 2. There will be a demonstration of cake decorating and pottery, also displays of stuffed animals, ceramics and jewelry. This will he held in the Mason's Hall at 7 p.m. Get your tickets 'front any member of the Court. Lois Herbert won the Forester Coffee spoon for the attendance and Edith Youngson the raffle. Sandra Vern and Margaret Spence were the lunch conveners. - A. C, W. and U.C.W. Units meet Unit 1 met at the home of their president Mrs. Gordon McRobert, on Wednesday. The meeting opened with the singing of a hymn, Tollowed by lesson thoughts entitlgO "Turn on your lights". During the business period a number of items were discussed and taken care of. including a questionnaire from the London Conference U.C.W. Mrs. Morden introduced the new Bible Study Book "Those Infuriating Parables" written by the late Dr. A.C. Forrest, and Mrs. Westman gave two readings: Miss Mabel McNaughton and Mrs. Clifford McRobert assisted the hostess to serve lunch. One visitor was present, Miss Rena Avery of Stratford who was a guest of Mrs. Robt Hardie. The Anglican Church Women held their meeting in the Church Hall on Wed- nesday evening, with Mrs. Clarence Lewis taking the Devotional, and Mrs. Percy Hodgigs read a • poem en- titled "Children learn what they live" also excerpts from the Bible pertaining to children. • A brief report was given on the District annual meeting. Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins dealt with the business, reports were given, -and dates set for the ham supper, and the bazaar. Mrs. Lewis -served lunch. Unit 1 U.C.W. are spon- soring a -concert on Sunday November 4 in Granton United Church of given by Calvary United Church Choir. This is a Sing- spirational Programme. PETER MARTIN CREDIJON Twenty nine members of the Zion United Church Women met 'Thursday evening at the Ailsa Craig Senior Citizen Complex for their first fall meeting; -hosted by Miss Ella Morlock. Leila Finkbeiner chaired the program. The meeting opened with a chorus. "Worship the Lord," Scripture verses were read in unison. A skit "The Lords Prayer was presented by Marie Fydenchuk and Leila Fink- beiner. Two solos were sung by the Mennonite Minister from Nairn. •Slides on Newfoundland were shown by Rev. Brian Elder. He also showed pictures of the churches he served. A short business meeting was conducted by President Mrs. Ross Pickering. A vote of thanks was given to Miss 3lorlock for hosting the Ladies.Adelicious lunch was served. Personals Mrs. Della Sims has returned home after surgery in St .Joseph 's Hospital. Rev. Armin Schlenker has Sunday. Miss Marion Her- bert assisted and read the Epistle of the Day. The sermon was taken from Luke and referred to the Good Samaritan story. At the United Church Rev. Elwood Morden conducted the Sunday morning wor- ship, and entitled his sermon "The man who has seen God". • 4-H news The 2nd meeting of the "Snappy Snippers" mem- bers of the 4-H Club group 2. "Acces-sories the final touch" was held at the home of leader Mrs. Jack Noon on September 8. Roll call was answered, by the members' best colors, the colors she should avoid, and to tell her basic wardrobe colors. Leaders Mrs.. Noon and Brenda Tomlin discussed with the members the selection, shape and care of hats. Mrs. Noon then demonstrated how to make two kinds of hats. The girls are to purchase the material for their scarves for the next meeting, they are also to bring their favorite hat. Ann Garrett was Secretary and press reporter for this meeting. Personals Mr. and MrS. Elmer Harlton and Mr. and Mrs. John Bryan - attended the Blyth Festival Theatre on Thursday to see )he "The Donnelleys play" Mr. and Mrs. Harlton also spent the holiday week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hodgins and Mr. and -Mrs. Norman Hodgins of St. Marys at a cottage at Kincardine Beach. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pratt andTracy on the arrival of Colin David at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on Monday August 27. We are happy to report that Mrs. Floyd Dykes is now home from hospital, and we wish her continued good health. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Wallis and Kevin, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jarman of- Strathroy spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Don Wallis at the Bryan Cottage at Port Franks. Sincere sympathy is ex- tended to the family of the late Joseph Kelly who passed away suddenly on Friday September 7 in his 38th year. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and Mrs. Lois Herbert, took Miss Rona Hickey home to Toronto on Sunday. Miss Hickey had been a visitor with the Hodgins family for some time this summer.
