Village one of first to
get new insurance policy

Village council made the
decision Tuesday to go ahead
with the coverage following
a brief discussion in which

municipalities is good news
for Hensall. The village is
expected to save over $8.700
in county and education
charges.
Councillor Paul Nielands
echoed the sentiments of
council when he said
"Sounds good."
Clerk -treasurer Betty Oke
said the change could signal
the start of yearly revisions
in the equalization factor
since the figure has been
frozen for a number of years.
In other business, council:
Were informed by Oke that
a review of the six month
financial status of the
municipality reveals "We're
right on line."
Presented a gift to former
roads superintendent Gary
Maxwell.
Were made aware of the
water problem in the arena
parking lot by roads
superintendent Bill
McLaren. Council will
request that the parks board
investigate the matter. In

The 24th annual Wright
Reunion was held at the
Kirkton-Woodham Com-
munity Centre on Sunday
August 12th. Everyone en-
joyed a bountiful dinner.
A short business meeting
was held with Lorne Ross,
president presiding.
Laurabelle Reichert read the
minutes of the 1978
gathering. The 25th reunion
will be held at Kirkton the
second Sunday in August,
1980. The president and
secretary will continue for
another year.

Told of urgent need
Council to back senior housing
Hensall council promised
Tuesday to give its full
support behind the con-
struction of seniors' housing
iri the municipality.
Council made the com-
mitment following a
presentation by Irene Davis
whosaid there was an urgent
need for seniors' ac-
commodation.
Davis told the elected
officials that a study which
she had conducted revealed
that 52 persons in the
community would utilize the
special accommodation and
said out of that number 18
were desperately in need of
some form of alternate
accommodation.

of the senior's housing
business but that they will
subsidize municipally- funded
ventures. .
