The Community Bible School is sponsored by the local Ministerial Associa- tion and involves children from the area. The youngest children met each morning at the Presbyterian Church, Grades 1 to 3 met at the United Church while the older children had their classes at the Baptist Church. Director this year was Rev. Ken Hayes of the Bap- tist Church The children followed the theme "Wheel- ing Along God's Way". Each day they enjoyed stories. songs. crafts and games cen- tred around the theme. Teachers and assistants included Gertrude Rosser. Ruth Garrod Phyllis Hall. Nancy - Holland. Carol Whiteford. AnnStewart. Rhona Hughes. Leona Hughes, Audrey McAdam. Christine Sutherland, Mary Ann Parkinson. Christine McAdam and Peter Snell. who assisted with the music along with Ann Stewart. The total enrollment was approximately 60 cillildren. Explorers enjoy Pinery camp -out At four -thirty Friday afternoon 25 young Ailsa Craig Explorers gathered -at the home of their leader. Up bright and early Satur- day the leaders took them on a 7 a.m swim in Lake Huron before breakfast. "the water was super-. com- mented one lass. Throughout the week -end the five leaders kept the girls well occupied with hik- ing. swimming and crafts Sunday morning the girls broke into groups and each !7repared a part of a worship service in which all later participated. In the ex- treme heat the 17 boys took their places to mark the first 2K race in the Ailsa Craig Gala Days celebra- tion. . The race was designed es- pecially for those under 11, with the 4K for those 11 to 14 years. It followed a shorter distance of major road race along Queen Street Cameron Macdonald, RR 1 Ailsa Craig took first place running the distance of 9 08 Rick Rosu-Myles. Parkhill captured second place with Dale Roth of Stratford com- ing in third. In the girls race Lisa Beattie of London ran in 12.23. Wendy NIolinaux of Strathroy placed second and third place went to Lori Macdonald• of RR 1 Ailsa Craig. In the boys' 41( meet Brian Burridge,, London made Qin distance in 16.06. Jeff Harmer, Parkhill followed in second place and Wayne MacGregor. Ailsa Craig took third. Diana Dixon, Ailsa Craig took the girls division with Wendy Currie of RR 3 Den- field behind her. In all 30 young runners took part in the new event and all showed great enthusiasm and good sportsmanship.
