Photo by Sclw l,•Ir' At Nairn Church More than 200 at Bible School By JOY SCHEIFELE Two hundred and fifteen children attended the Nairn Daily Bible Vacation School this year making the highest enrollment in the past fifteen years. The Bible School has been held annually in the community for over thirty years and this year -again proved to be a very. meaningful time. Each morning for two weeks the children arrived at the Nairn Mennonite Church by buses, cars, bikes and on foot. At the sound of the bell ringing they quickly lined up in classes outside the church and entered into the church singing "I Will Enter His Gates". Once inside the church the children's attention was quickly caught by worship leader, Ruth Smith as she led the children in worship and song around the theme of the Fruit of the Spirt. Each day the children learned a new song related to the gifts of the Spirits and pinned a fruit to a tree illustrating God's bountiful goodness. Children then broke into individual classes. Five classes were taken by bus to the East Williams School while the six remaining classes stayed at the church for their lesson. - The average attendance this year was 170, with 93 children having perfect attendance. The Rev. David Branner was Director. The children's offerings totalled $337.02. This will be divided equally among the Canadian Bible Society. a self supporting mission in Haiti. Elizabeth Haanstra, and an M.C.C. project to supply visual aids to a Sunday School in a town in Nigeria. Friday evening found close to 450 persons crowded into the auditorium at East Williams- School as the children presented their final programme for parents and friends. Each class presented a brief summary through song or dramatization of what they had been studying during the past two weeks. Display tables around the auditorium featured art work and study books prepared by the children.
