Philip Clarke is valedictorian
Graduation ends St. Pat's year
The two culminating
events of the school year at
St. Patrick's held June 27
and 28 were the graduation
and Jhe awards program.
First the graduation.
Following a very special
private and beautiful Mass
celebrated by Father Finn
for the graduates and their
families. the dinner and
ceremonies were held in the
school auditorium.
A total of 28 graduates
were honoured during a
.sumptuous dinner prepared
by grade seven mothers.
Following the dinner all
graduates received plaques,
certificates and graduation
booklets.
Janet VanderLoo and Paul
VanGeel received the
highest academic award and
Mary Sentjens and Francis
Giesen received the progress
award. Parish Priest Father
F'irin funded and presented
the ladyship award to Kathy
('ocquyt and lie Gen-
tlemanship award to Danny
Keymer:

Terry Maslen. Marius
Vandenberg .and Jeff
L.emmon were recognized
for their exceptional con-
tributions to the staff and
fellow students as members
of the school's • Student
Council. Two additional
awards were presented for
the first time this year.
The Maslen family award,
will annually honour the "all
round" girl and this year
Sandy Hartman received a
statuette from Mr. Len
Maslen. The VanderLoo
Memorial Award which was
established in Memory of
John VanderLoo a graduate
of St..Patrick's in 1973 was
presented by a graduate of
1973 also - Connie VanBussel
to the all round boy Paul
VanGeel.
Several graduates played
important roles in the
evening's ceremonies. Pat
Foran introduced the male
and Jackie Nyssen the
female graduates. Tony
Straatman proposed a toast
to all graduates and Terry
Maslen proposed a toast to
all the staff of the school. The
1979Valedictorianwas Philip
Clarke.
Special guests in at-
tendance included C.W.L.
President " Mrs. Helen
Toonders who presented
students with religious
mementos, P.'T.A.
President Mrs. Dorothy
Reymer, Superintendent of
Program for the London and
Middlesex R.C. Board,
Trustee Patrick Crunican
and Mr. Peter Derbyshire
from Regina Mundi College
in London who was an ex-
cellent guest speaker.
The following day the the
awards program certificate
presentations involving all
students Kindergarten -
grade 7 were made again in
the school's auditorium.

We should rejoice in our
times of trial because it is
then that we becorhe more
patient,- more faithful and
more trusting in your Lord.

Lucan Revival Centre was
the setting for a lovely
family wedding Friday
evening.

The bride is a former
resident of Lucan while Mr.
Timmins is a former
resident of London. .
The maid of honour was
Mrs. Patricia Ratelle and
Me e best man was Mr. Lou
Ratelle.
Miss Kathy Hopps
daughter of the bride sang
Amazing Grace as the couple
signed the marriage
register.
A reception -was held in the
fellowship hall of the church.
A buffet lunch of salads and
cold cuts were served. The
wedding cakes were
beautifully decorated.
The couple will reside near
Arv'a.
