Ryan Hern was set up by Justin O'Rourke for •an early goal but Delaware fought back and took a 2-1 lead in the second half. The Exeter boys just could not buy a goal. Chris Eccles hit the crossbar twice and other forwards missed ex-. cellent chances to score but the score remained 2-1 in favor of Dela- ware. The Greys scored three times in fhc bottom of the third inning and scored what proved to be the win- ning tally in the fifth frame. St. Pauls scnt two runners home in the fifth and another in the follow- ing inning, but wcrc unable to get the equalizer. Elaine Gould started off the Exet- er three run rally by reaching first on a fielding error by the St. Pauls shortstop. The Greys will be in.Denfield, Thursday night and visit Crediton Monday night to -meet the Cow- girls, Lamport were excellent for Exeter. All three squirt teams saw action this week in the Lucan and District soccer league. Exeter I and Exeter II squared off against each other. Both teams were very evenly matched. There were numerous scoring chances on both sides with Greg Geoffrey and Michael Wilhelm coming close to scoring the winner for their respective teams but in the end a 0-0 tie was a good reflection of the play. Brendan Kraftcheck played well for Exeter I and Jason Corbett and Kerianne O'Rourke played well for Exeter II. Exeter III took on Lucan I and came away with a well deserved 4-0 shut out. The Exeter youngsters played well for their first game of the season. Veterans Ben Cottrell and Michael Ford led the team with two goals each. L1 Centennials lose after lacklustre performance EXETER - Exeter Centennial Senior Soccer team was downed by a score of 2 to 0. on Sunday by a visiting team from London by the name of Real West. Exeter's opposition came to play in -the heat but Exeter seemed to lack this necessary punch to play. The home team failed to gain and keep possession of the ball for any great length of time. Craig Winbow, Exeter's goalie made a diving save to rob a breaka- way coming in, and in the process received a fractured nose. George McEwan filled in very well in net but his presence was missed in the front line of attack. Real West went up 1 to 0 about twenty minutes into the second half, and this seemed to visably strengthen them defensively. They were able to turn the tide on several occasions but Exeter could not get a break. The team travels on Sunday, June 5 to compete against Taxandria Fal- cons. The following Sunday, June 12, Strathroy comes to play Exeter at home at 2 p.m. Any support is welcome.
