Exeter UCW consider 'Hands'
EXETER - By cutting an apple
into relative proportions, Alma
Langford demonstrated to the after-
noon group of the Exeter UCW
that only 1/32 of the world's sur-
face is available for producing our
food. Further startling facts were
emphasized by the. use of trivia
questions.
A recorded tape of a report to
London Conference by John King,
Conference rural worker, told of
the many problems faced in agri-
culture today.
'Hands' was the theme chosen by
Alma for the worship service.
Scriptural reference, a poem and
stories ready by Stella Taylor,
Marion Ivtiller, Leone Hern and
Hilda Taylor enlarged on the
theme. Marjorie Adams led in
prayer.
The ladies were then asked to lay
their hands on their laps and regard
them as Alma spoke of the hundred
and one things those hands had
done.
The worship was closed by the
singing of a hymn using hand mo-
tions.
Laura Dickey presided for the
business meeting. Cora Miner re
ported on new books purchased. It
was decided to have a potluck din-
ner to open each of the June and
September meetings.
Dates to remember: Senior Fel-
lowship May 17; general meeting
May 30; next regular meeting June
2; Westminster weekend June 3-5;
Friendship Tea June 9; Alma Col-
lege August 6.
Cora Miner's group served sand-
wiches and tea.
