For all its fund-raising efforts,
the Blyth Festival looks forward to
continued support from the arts
council, the play sponsors, the pa-
trons, Local businesses and most
importantly the individual support-
ers - the audience.
BLYTH - Blyth Festival will
once again enter its summer season
on a positive fund-raising note,
thanks to the financial assistance
of play sponsors, arts councils and
community supporters.
The performing arts in Canada de-
pends on a variety of financial sup-
port including ticket sales, private
fund raising in the form of member-
ship pledges and sponsorship of
plays and programs, and govern-
ment support through arts councils.

LLOYD MORDEN
Tulice Jean Carruthers, daughter
of Jean Carruthers, Goderich, and
Lloyd Robert Morden Jr., son of
Lloyd and Joyce Morden, Dash-
wood, were married on October 10,
1987, in Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderich, with Rev. Rob-
ert W. Johnson officiating. Bridal
attendants were maid of honour
Sherrill Clemens and bridesmaid
Mary -Lillian Christine Simpson, To-
ronto. Best man was lan Morden,
Dashwood, and ushers were Alfred
Harvey, London, and David Car-
ruthers, Hamilton. Jakob Carruth-
ers, St. Catharines and Brian Har-
vey, London, were ring bearers.
The couple are residing in Toronto.
HODGERT-RIEHL
Michele Linnett Riehl, daughter of
Gerry and Elda Riehl, Exeter, and
Alan Ross Hodgert, son of Ross and
Kathleen Hodgert, RR 1 Woodharn,
were united in marriage on April 2,
1988 at Thames Road United
Church. Rev. Teddy Smits per-
formed the ceremony. The bride's
attendants were maid of honour
Leslie`Swartman, friend of the bride,
and biidesmaids Kim Riehl, Jackie
Riehl, .Tonya Riehl, sisters of the
bride,`and Diane Ellis, sister of the
groom. Best man was Brad Cann,
cousin of the groom. Friends, rela-
tives and neighbours were ushered
by Scott Hodgert, cousin of the
groom, Steve Broadbent, friend of
the groom, Dave Durnin, uncle of
the bride and Darren' Tinney, cousin
of the groom. Dinner and an open re-
ception followed in the Kirkton-
Woodham Community Centre. After
a week's honeymoon in Florida, Alan
and Michele returned to the Thames
Road community to reside.

'For the !lig time in the Blyth
Festival's history all five produc-
tions for the 1988 season have a
sponsor," Lynda Lentz, Blyth Festi-
val's Development Co-ordinator is
pleased to announce. -
The sponsors are: The Cookie
War by Kathleen McDonnell (John
Labatt Limited), Mail -Order Bride
by Robert Clinton (Victoria &
Grey National Trust) and Lucien by
Marshall Button (Champion Road
Machinery).
Two new sponsors arc the DuMa-
urier Council for. the Arts who are
sponsoring Bordertown Cafe by
Kelly Rebar and CKNX-CFPL
Broadcasting who are sponsoring
Fires in the Night (The Story of the
School on Wheels) by David S.
Craig. Also the Laidlaw Foundation
continues its sponsorship of the
important New Play Development
Program.
The Festival continues to enjoy
growing support from nore than
200 patrons (individuals and busi--
nesscs). These donations allow
Seniors plan
Moonwalk
EXETER - At the May meeting,
held in the Legion Hall, Exeter
Senior Citizens were again remind-
ed of the Elderobic Moonwalk, May
10-29. Ten blocks equal one mile.
Mileage will be totalled at the Junc
meeting.
Several will participate in the
Senior Games at Stratford, Junc 20,
21 and in selling tickets for the On-
tario Provincial Senior Games held
at Brampton in August. •
__-President Pat Skinner gave a re-
port on the Zone Rally held at
Stanley Complex and announced
that Exeter Seniors will host the
Fall Rally, Friday October 14,
1988 at the Legion Hall.
. An invitation from Huronvicw
for a noon' meal at 12:45 followed
by a program at 2:00 p.m. was ac-
cepted for June 15.
The annual convention will be
held in Kingston August 8 and two
delegates will be sent.
Bingo at the Villa this month
will be looked after by Mildred
Thomson, Mary Funk, Mary Neal
and_Irene Harness. •
Alva Heywood had brochures on
an October trip. Mabel McKnight
reported on cards sent to the sick
and bereaved.
Marjorie Arthur was in charge of
the program choosing the theme
Moth 's Da . She gave several
readings and poem —recited
from °memory the poem,
-"Somebdy's Mother" which she
and mo. t of the seniors memorized
in the third class at school.
Luella Taylor outlined the begin-
ning of Mother's Day and its
founder, Vi Hendy read a humorous
poem on old age.
Marlene Mathers and Eric Kints
sang several familiar ducts accom-
panied by Eric with the guitar.
A delicious lunch was served by
the group in charge.
Next meeting will be held at the
same place beginning with a pot
luck dinner at 5:30 p.m. Land V
Stone will be in charge.
Blyth Festival to present their pro-
ductions as well as additional funds
that conic frons the more than
1,0()0 members whose donations of
SIO. or more help to make the an-
nual fund-raising campaign such a
success. An average of -14 percent
of the Festival's total budget comes
from private fund-raising donations.
The Festival's national profile and
well established reputation for high
artistic standards as well as sound
fiscal management, are acknowl-
edged by the Canada Council and
the Ontario Arts Council through
ongoing support. Both arts councils
have increased the amounts of their
grants for 1988, a total of
S149,500. The Festival is most
grateful for this support for their
yearly operating costs.
In May of this year the Festival
will be launching a public appeal
for capital funds for our Building
Expansion Project. Because the
Festival has built such a significant
reputation for home-grown produc-
tion it becomes necessary to match
this creativity with a better work -

After nine long years, Mr. Joseph
Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Camp-
bell are relieved to announce the
forthcoming marriage of their chil-
dren, Donna Jean and Christopher
Michael, May 14, 1988 at Boni-
face Church, Zurich. Op ecep-

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Sullivan wish to

of their daughter, Susan Agnes to
Mr. 'Dennis Preszcator, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lorne Preszcator. The
