'The Farm Show' this year's production at SHDHS
A play about local Huron County
residents is South Huron's choice
for this year's spring production,
and what a great choice it is!
Twelve years ago Theatre Passe
Muraille, a Toronto Theatre troupe,
came to our arca to experience first
hand what Huron County was all
about. Thcy lived and worked with
people in the Clinton arca, inter-
viewed dozens of 'colourful' resi-
dents, and finally wrote a play about
us called "the Farm Show".
Glenda Burrell, director and theatre
teacher says that this year's produc-
tion is extra special because it is
truly a collective effort. Electricity
teacher Bill Payette has joined the
production as Technical Director.
Teachers Laura Browne and Janet
Clarke are in charge of set design
and finances respectively. Dennis
Nielsen is setting aside his black-
board and chalk to once again suc-
cumb to "the smell of the grease-
paint, the noise of the crowd". (He
had a role in the previous produc-
tion, "A Chorus Line".)
Principal Bruce Shaw originally
accepted a walk-on part as a former
Huron M.P. Shaw said usually his
acting is confined to the political
stage, this part gives him a chance
to combine his skills, and broaden
his audience. His role has been en-
larged, and he will now take part in
the opening scene and the square
dance number.'

in this year's theatrical productions
at South Huron D.H.S. and Central
Huron S.S. Glenda Burrell, director
of "The Farm Show" at South Hu-
ron says that Macdonald's extensive
theatrical background coupled with
his teaching experience make him
an invaluable resource person.
Macdonald has helped to organize
a two day event at the Iluron Coun-
try Playhouse that will give both
casts the opportunity to exercise'
their talents and workshop their ide-
as in a professional theatre setting.
His involvement culminates in the
two schools' spring productions.
Burrell is enthusiastic about the
newly developed liaison with the
