Pat Predhomme showed us how to make stoves and lanterns. out of juice cans. Next. Barb led us out to the bush behind her farm. We played a couple of games. First was a game with a blindfolded person being led by a person not blindfolded. The blindfolded person would touch and smell four things and then identify them. We played a silent game where we had to find 10 different silent things and then write them in our books. After coming back from the bush we made hot dogs and smorcs. AfLcr sampling our cooking we went inside and did our books. The meeting closed with the 441 Pledge. Press reporter for this meeting was Laura Mulder. "The Outsiders" held their fifth meeting at Bruccficld Unitcd Church on Tuesday, April 19. Thc Kippen III club has 15 members, led by Barb Moffat and Pat Pred- homme- After repeating the 4--H pledge, the home activity, roll call and title page were discussed. We divided into groups where we looked at pictures depicting the out- doors. We judged them and placed them in the correct manner which we had been shown. Our next meeting will be at Mor- rison Dam on Saturday April 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Our books arc to be handed in by May 7 to our leaders. Press reporter - Martina Aisen- trcis. Personals Gerald and Mary Moffatt have re- turned from a winter of travelling. They drove to Phoenix, Arizona, then flew from San Francisco to Hong Kong, then travelled on to China for a visit, back again to Hong Kong where they flew to Thailand, returning again to Hong Kong to fly to Australia and New Zealand. While they were in these two .countries they toured farm areas and were able to compare methods of farming with Canada. It was sum- mer in Australia so the weather was.. very favourable. The Moffatts flew back to Hong Kong to spend a few more days sightseeing before rcturning to Phoenix and the drive back to Cana- da Al and Margaret Hoggarth have returned from a three week trip to England. While there they visited with Margaret's mother, Violet Ashard in Walthamstow and sister Janet and husband Alan 'lolling- bcry in Theydon Bois. One week was spent touring De- von and Cornwall. England's weather was perfect for spring. Flowers and trees put up a very colourful show. As Kippen correspondent I would like to thank Rena Caldwell for acting on my behalf while I was away on holiday. Kippen East W 1 Kippen East held their annual meeting in Fellowship Hall of Hcnsall United Church on April 20. Dinner was served at 6:30 p.m. Roll call - "A Canadian law that causes me much concern" dealt with abortion, Sunday shopping, criminal rights to the freedom to pursue their criminal practices etc. President Grace Drummond gave several interesting poems and was presented with a gift in apprecia- tion for her services to the insti- tute. Lynn Garrison, nutritionist with Huron County Health Unit, gave an interesting and informative talk on "Cooking For One or Two". She suggested meal planning, shopping in small quantities, get- ting a rain check on specials that are out of stock. When cooking, cut recipes in half, use small pots and dishes. She also mentioned that there were courses being taught in Clin- ton and Exeter on "Cooking For A Healthy Heart". Phyllis Parsons thanked the speaker. Ycar end reports were given on programs, also treasurer's report and nominating committee report.
