'l'hc pastor's sermon was taken
from Acts 16; Paul's vision to go
preach the gospel to the people of
Macedonia. Arriving in the city of
Phillippi, Paul met a woman named
Lydia, a slave girl and a jailor. Each
received the gospel message and
each was instrumental in starting a
church in their city. Witnessing for
Christ undertaken by individual
members will bring growth tc
God's church.

Museum curator talks to WI
Members of the Grand Bend
Women's Institute socialized over a
delicious potluck dinner, when they
met at 12:30 on Thursday, April
21.
Robert Tremain, curator at the
Lambton Heritage Museum,
showed a series of slides depicting
life in Grand Bend in the early
1900s. Some buildings shown were
the Casino, Brenner House, Imperi-
al Hotel, •Lakeview House, Ra-
velle's Place, Elsie's Ice Cream Bar
and Merry -Go -Round, and the pic-
nic grounds where gala events on
July 1 attracted crowds of 15,000
people.
Eighty percent of the pictures of
early life here were taken by Mr.
Joseph Senior, a well-known Exeter
photographer. His pictures were
unique because at a time when most
subjects posed and stood sedately in
straight lines, he took very infor-
mal pictures of vacationers as they
enjoyed the natural attributes of the
resort, sand, sun, beach, lake and
pine trees.
Tremain was given permission to
use two photos from the WI Tweed-
smuir History Book, to copy and
use in the book the Museum is
selling.
The members voted to give $30
to the Exeter Fall Fair to sponsor a
4-11 section. Donna Lovie read the
minutes and the treasurer's report.
A report on the 85th anniversary of
the South Catherine Junkcr. The
members were reminded that the
district annual is to be held in Hen -
salt United Church on May 19.
Verna Lovie presented the slate
of officers for 1988-89, and plans
were made to visit the Blucwater
Youth Centre at Goderich on May
17.
About people you know
Visitors are beginning to return to
the 'Bend for weekend trips, as one
can see by the number of cars in
town now. Local businesses contin-

all in time for that magic 24th of
May weekend date.
Workers are sticking to a frantic
time schedule at Oakwood, where
the winter has seen several beautiful
new buildings appear - now the
electricians and plumbers are work-
ing round the clock. The landscap-
ing and sand clean-up will be the
last, of course, and you wonder
with seemingly so much left to do,
if they'll make the deadline. Good
luck, gentlemen.
Over at the Whipple Tree Riding
Stables all the horses are back in
their stalls, ready to hit the trails.
There's a new, bigger parking lot
and a concession stand with cold
drinks and special T-shirts.
The Starlight Drive -In opened up
last weekend too, for those who en-
joy the larger theatre of the night
sky.

Beth Nicholson and her family
seemed to have acquired an extra

he's a lovely animal, they'd like to
hear from the owner. Please call

cial board director. She explained
