'Spring Bouquet' concert
The new Huronia Singers, under
the direction of Susan Graham, and
accompanied by Julie Eastcrbrook,
are building a reputation for musi-
cal excellence. Evidence of this is
shown in their strong performance
at thc Kiwanis Music Festival in
London on April 13.
This was a new experience for
many of the choir memlbers. They
received an excellent mark, but
more importantly the choir gained
many helpful ideas from adjudica-
tor, Dennis Schaefer, from Sas-
katchewan.
Schaefer said that it was obvious
that the choir enjoyed working with
the conductor, and that they sang
with great assurance.
Thc people of South Huron will
have an opportunity to hear the
choir, when they present their sec-
ond annual spring concert - "A
Spring Bouquet". This will be held
May 14 at 7:30 p.m. and May 15 at
2:30 p.m. at South Huron District
High School.
They say variety is the spice of
life, and variety is a key ingredient
in a New Huronia Concert.
This "Spring Bouquet" will in-
clude music from a wide spectrum -
from George Fredrick Handel to An-
drew Lloyd Webber.
In addition to Handel, and music
from "Cats", there will be a seg-
ment called "Images of the Past" - a
grouping of five songs that will be
familiar to most.
An added feature will be guest flu-
tist Suzanne Thomas, of London,
who plays with the Fanshawe
Community Players, and teaches
flute in the London area.
New Huronia Concerts are always
well attended, so be sure to get your
tickets early. They are available at
The Feather Tick, MacLeans, Deco-
rators Touch Plus or from any choir
member, or by calling 235-2865.
In addition to preparing for their
May concert, the choir is getting
organized for their annualgarage
and bake sale to be held on April
30. This will take place at 338 An-
drew St., Exeter between thc hours
of 8:00 a.m., and 12:00 noon.
Congratulations to Susan, Julie
and the New Huronia Singers for
their solid performance in London!
