HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1988-04-13, Page 32Page 16A Times -Advocate, April 13, 1988 Plan Osborne celebration On Monday, March 21, 1988 Us - borne Township Council held a public meeting at the Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre to determine whether or not Usborne residents wishcd to plan a celebra- tion of the municipality's 150th an- niversary. Council were encouraged by the support and enthusiasm shown by the large group of resi- dents who attended their meeting. The evening began with a presen- tation from Fern Dougall, chairman of the Usborne History Book Com- mittee, who provided an overview of the committee's plans for produc- tions of an Usborne History Book. Shc whetted the interest of those in tional funding from their municipal council. Following a special thanks to Fern, Gordon and Debbie and a presentation to them by Reeve Prout, residents were asked for their suggestions regarding events that might be held in Usborne Town- ship in 1992. Special events began in January and were held each month during the year, wiih the anniversary party, parade and homecoming weekend held on the Civic Holiday in August.
