4-11
On April 9, Crediton Club N had
their second meeting at Morrison
Darn. We started the mccting with
the minutes of the last meeting and
the roll call.
Yat Noakes showed a first aid kit
and how to use it. We also learned
how to pick a good campsite and
how to set one up. Then we went
for a hike, set a tent up and had a
campfire.
The meeting was interesting and
very helpful for when you go camp-
ing. Our next meeting is April 16.
The Crediton V 4-H Club held its
final meeting on April 7 at
O'Rourke's.
The roll call for t1 meeting
"Give Yourself Some Mit",
for two examples of merchandise or
service which can be bought on
credit.
The meeting went on to explain
what credit is and to set us straight
about the facts and the myths. We
also discussed where credit is availa-
ble and went over the different types
offered.
Simply using credit also involves
a certain charge, and the cost of
credit was explained with an exer-
cise. From here, we went on to
learn about applying for a loan, and
about credit ratings.
The Credit Bureau and its report-
ing and collection services were dis-
cussed and we read how to make
credit work for you. Horne activi-
ties were then taken up.
We are now preparing an exhibit
for the 4-H achievement night to be
held Tuesday, May 3 at 8 p.m. in'
the upstairs of the Clinton Town
Hall. See you there.

Crediton
The fifth meeting of the Crediton
five 4-11 club was held on Friday,
April 1, at the Kaak residence.
For this meeting, we were privi-
leged to have Barb McCann, a bank
teller, as our guest speaker.
Mrs. McCann went through the
mccting with us, starling with the
roll call, "Name a financial institu-
tion in Canada. " Answers such as
the Bank of Montreal, Victoria &
Grey Trust, The Bank of Nova Sco-
lia and many others ensued.
From here we went on to recog-
nizing currencies. This section of
the mccting dealt with correctly
identifying the illustrations on the
back of the Canadian bills, as well.
as selecting and matching the cor-
rect monetary units and exchange
rates to several different countries in
the world.
This proved to be quite a chal-
lenge!
We also looked at the different
types of financial institutions in
our area. These include Chartered
Banks, Trust Companies, Credit
Unions and Province of Ontario
savings offices. Banking services
were then discussed, with Mrs.
McCann supplying us with some
helpful information.and advice.
The different types of Lank ac-
counts and their purposes were also
considered, in hopes of helping us
to decide where each would be most
applicable.
Our cheque -writing skills wcre
tlicn tested, as we were given a slip
and told to fill it out, along with
practice withdrawal and deposit
slips.
Automated teller machines were
also discussed along with Personal
Identification numbers, interest, and
saving and investing money. Home
activities were assigned.
-The mccting was adjourned at
12:15 and we enjoyed a snack of
peanuts and lemonade. As a sign of
our appreciation, we then presented
Mrs. NicCann with a Bower centre-
piece.
