Frayed Edges meet at Granton

The Granton "Frayed edges" 4H
club held their final meeting on
Thursday April 7 at the home of
Deanna and Sylvia Beatson. Four of
the six members were present and
record book covers were completed.
Finished shirts wcre handed in to
be marked by the rural organization
specialist at OMAF. Our achieve -
meat program was discussed and
will be held in Lucan Public school
on Tuesday April 21 at 7 p.m.
We will be starting another 4H
program on Thursday April 21 at
the home of Deanna and Sylvia
Bcatson.
This project entitled "Encounter
the Outdoors" includes building a
fire, planning a campfire program,
making weather predictions and
campsite locations, environmental
dangers and first aid, photography,.
endangered species, out door cook-
ing and hikes. Any youth between
12 and 21 years by January 1, 1988.
who wish to participate in this
club, please contact leaders Deanna
Beatson or Pat Harlton before April
21.
The Good Friday Service of Song
took the form of a cantata on the
Crucifixion. This was put on by
the choir and very well received.
On Easter Sunday morning a
Sunrise Breakfast was enjoyed.
Flowers were placed in the United
Church on Easter Sunday morning
in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Wil -
Centralia
by Mrs. Tom Kooy
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe enter=
tained their family over the Easter
holidays.
Recent visitors with Tom and I
were Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol of
Hensall and Mr. and Mrs. Cy Mor-
ley of West McGillivray.
Prize winners at Centralia Com-
munity Centre euchre party were
High score Mary Davis, Earl Mor-
gan, Lone Hands Jean Millar,
George Cunningham, Low score
Marian Thompson, Charlie Rol-
lings. Special score prizes went to
Don Fahner and Voyle Jordon.
The next party is April 18 at 8
p.m.

Sunday evening, Albanaires of
London presented a very inspira-
tional program of gospel singing at
Granton Anglican Church. A social
hour followed the program when
the men}bers of the choir mingled
with the congregation and answered
any questions about the gospel
group.
Saturday April 23 Granton United
Church will sponsor a yard sale to
be held at the Lions Club pavilion.
This is a good chance to spring
clean and remember your junk may
be someone else's treasure.
Flowers were placed in the United
Church from the funeral of Mrs.
Gladys Sutherland, mother of Mrs.
Garfield Nixon who passed away on
Wednesday April 6 after a lengthy
illness also flowers were placed in
the United Church by Jean Scolly
in memory of her uncle James Ki -
chin.
Daffodils were placed in the
church in observance of Daffodil
Sunday, by the Cancer society.

EGYPTIAN ENRICHMENT -- Jamie Chalmers, a Grade five tudent at Stephen Central, takes a close look at a
plaster copy of the death mask of King Tut. Chalmers was tak ng part in -a two day enrichment program at Exeter
public school which dealt with ancient Egypt. -
