A11 3-5 year olds are welcome at the library at 11 a.m. on Monday. United Church It was a very busy weekend at Hensall United Church beginning with Maundy Thursday Service. A quartet consisting of Don St. John, Debbie Wood, Bill Bailey and Doug Mock performed the touch- _ ing - "Alone Thou Goest _Forth." Assisting Rev. Easter began early with a Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. Glen Hayter led the service with his senior youth helpers; -Angie Gould, Jodi McGee, Jamie McGee, Mark Brock, Rob Gackstettcr, Jonathon Corbett and Derrick Mcgee. Rev.. Doug Wright led the large gather - FEELING SHEEPISH - A Iartib brought from Donald Dearing's farm to Queensway nursing home is .appreciated ing in a closing prayer followed by by Carol Gascho and Bill Eveland. Other animals on display included baby chicks, guinea fowl, and homing pig breakfast prepared by the worship committee and served to a large and hungry crowd. A but- terfly was placed on the top of the completed cross. Many thanks to Larry and Evelyn Elder for making the cross which has been used for the last seven Sundays. Next Sunday April 11 is Bap- tism Sunday. The Thursday after- noon U.C.W. group will meet this Thursday at 2:30. The annual Beef BBQ will be April 14. Northcrest news Jack and Rayc McKnight of Ot- tawa visited with Glen and Pearl McKnight of Northcrest for the Easter weekend. Visitors with the McKnights on Sunday were Don and Mary Gravctt of Hanover and sons John of Guelph and Mark from Toronto. Ida Dickens visited last week with granddaughter Robyn McLellan of Toronto. eons. SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS - Hensall's representatives at the Clinton Science Fair will be grade seven's Shane Pepper and grade eight's Cara Powell. Shane's project examined the generation of electricity from air pressure and Cara tested the abilities of mice and gerbils to learn a maze. Residents Monday morning residents viewed a video of the Ilensall Figure Skat- ing Carnival. During lunch several of us enjoyed dinner music provided by Bill Gibson at the piano. In die afternoon residents played. Bingo with assistance and prizes provided by thc Ilensall United Church women. Reverend Stojkovic of Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood led our worship service Tuesday afternoon with his wife Jill as volunteer pia- nist. Father Mooney was also in to say Mass for our Catholic resi- dents. Wednesday morning the Activity Room was thc scene of a great deal of chicks, a pct banty hcn and two homing pigeons. Mr. Dearing ex- pl'fled to us about thc three types ofgttbs. One Dorset Hom, Oxford Do n and Leicester, but we just called them cute. We couldn't thank Mr. Dearing enough for bringing this menagerie to us. It certainly brought back many memories as we stroked, petted and smelled these an- imals. Wednesday afternoon Iva Rcid as- sisted as several residents bowled at the Zurich Bowling Lancs. Thursday we had an enlightening visit from some Hensall Public' School children. They had put to- gether videos set to appropriate mu- sic. The topics were London Eng- land, by Cara Powell and Katie Suc Kyle. Hawaii, by Stephen Thomp- son and Teresa Haugh, Provincial Parks by Steve Elliott, The Rock- ies by Tom Scotchmer, Klondyke view skating video by Steve Brock and Shawn Cooper, and Canada by Vicki Bisback. These were well done and interest- ing vignettes. Thursday evening we celebrated at our monthly Birthday Party. The Brass Bunch entertained led by their music teacher Mr. Charles Kalb- flcisch. We appreciated their won- derful performance and also the visit afterward: Birthday greetings to Isa- b'cI Sproat, Carl Lawatski, Eliza- beth Alexander and Grace Dinncy. Saturday evening Julia Knip and the Christian Reformed Singers brought us a beautiful Easter Pro- gram in word and song. Following the presentation we shared a visit ►with the singers over lunch. Thank you to Matthew, -David and Adam Gascho who assisted with serving lunch. Queensway coming Events arc April 9, 2:30 p.m. Sherry McCalls, Stcpdanccrs program. Margaret's son Bob and Betty Mole and family of Dungannon also at- tended the family gathering. YFC South Huron Youth For Christ held their skating party at thc Hen- sall Arena in March. Over 2(X) par- ticipatedin this annual event. Youth, children and adults all en- joyed skating on the ice surface to a great selection of music M.C.'d by Jeff Westlake. A. large crowd of approximately 200 people gathered at Bruceficld School on April 2 at Sharon Parker of Centralia and.Ray Fletcher of ,of performed beautifully -on the piano and keyboard. After sever- al choruses were sung, the Clinton, Exeter, Goderich and Zurich teams quizzed from II Thessalonians with Exeter finishing on top. Ray and Arlene Fletcher shared, in testimony and song. Both members of the Christian Biker's Association they told the large and attentive group about what the Lord has done in their lives. The South Huron Youth For Christ Quiz Team won at the Win- ter Retreat at Circle "C" Ranch in Delewan N.Y. and will be returning there on Friends and Family Day, July 23 where they will be in con- tention for the trophy against teams from all over the U.S.A. Don't miss the last regular rally of the season on May 7 when the regular quiz teams will participate in the finals for the Y.F.C. trophy. Three Links - The series of euchre parties held by the Three Links Seniors Citizens was brought to a successful conclu- sion on Tuesday evening, March 29 with ten tables in -play. Winners were: ladies card lone hands Sheldon Wurm, men's cards lone hands Ross Richardson; ladies high Mrs. Shantz, Iadics low Nellie Riley, men's high Mary Broadfoot and men's low Gwen McKellar..
