Thames Road UCW hosts Day
By MRS. WILLIAM ROHD1.
Rev', Teddy Smits was in charge
of the First Sunday in Lent church
scrvicc on Sunday morning. We
read the Beatitudes responsively. In
his children's story the Rev. Teddy
Smits told about a young boy, very
clever with his hands, who made a
small boat, complete with sails. On
the first fine day in spring he took
the boat to the big lake to try it
out, but, suddenly let slip the string
holding_ the boat. which soon drifted
away on the big waves.
He. was sorry to have. lost his
boat, the product of many months
of work. When school holidays
came he went to visit his uncle who
lived further north on the same lake.
On his first walk through the
town he discovered his own boat,
on display to be sold in a store. He
went in and told the storekeeper
"That's my boat!"
The storckccper said "You can
buy it, or else, get out."
He asked how much it would cost
and the man said S3.(Xl! He counted
all that he had in his pocket, -and he
was one penny short.
The storckccper grumbled, but let
him have it for that price. When the
boy picked up the boat, he said•
"Now I own you twice. First I made
you, now I've bought you.".
God owns us twice. First He
Made us, and later on He bought us
with the life of His Son.
Mrs. Arnold Cann read the scrip-
turclessons. -•
For his sermon the text was St.

the Netherlands, the Dutch prince
fled to England in a fishing boat,
and the Dutch people felt so hope-
less against Napoleon's troops. But
once the French troops discovered
the first river in the south of Hol-

From one of the farms a Dutch
farmer emerged. yc asked to see
some of the officers, and he took

INDUSTRIAL HORIZON FUND:
5500 MILLION STRONG. AND
POSITIONED FOR TOMORROW.
Industrial lion/milFund was launched just a year ago.
Its public offering %vas the largest in Canadian mutual fund
history. Tt tday, the fund's assets are'nearly :500 million. And
sales are strung. -
Prior to the October 19.1987 decline, more than 70%4 the
portfolio was in cash, government securities and other liquid .
assets. -
That was good for the people who bought an Industrial
Horizon Fund -RRSI) last year. because they were well protected
against the market decline. - But it's also good for this year's Rittil' investors. Because
ovt'r the past few months, the managers at Mackenzie Financial
have been able to purchase quality investments at what they
believe are excellent prices.
. In fact• Mackenzie believes industrial Horizon Fund is in an
ideal pt )sit )11 to capitalize on an upswing for the right stocks
over the next few years.. '
To put it another way, with no acquisition fee, you can invest
in a mutual_fund RRSP that's. nearly $500 million strong.

The disciples wen. absolutely hor-
rified when Judas came to their mas-
ter, together with a group of temple
police and kissed the Master, thus
identifying Him .for the arresting
police officers. Soon after that Judas
realized the horrib:e mistake he had
made. He threw the money paid to
him for his treacherous act in the
temple, and he committed suicide.
All disciples condemned Judas.
But they had never befriended him,
aad he was allowed to remain an
outsider. Thcy carried_ part of the
guilt. Jesus, up till the last, held
-the door open for Judas. God always
leaves a door open for us, even
when the world may condemn us.
