Trophy case at Dashwood Centre

The Dashwood and Area Business
Association has installed a trophy
case in the Dashwood Community
centre. If you have any old trophies
from the Dashwood ball or hockey
teams we would appreciate receiving
them for display in this beautiful
case. Please phone Nancy Rader or
Donna Hoffman.
The Business Association mem-
bers held their Christmas dinner and
dance at the Community Centre,
Saturday, January 30. A large gath-
ering of people enjoyed the music
of the "Eureka" band.
Personals
Mr. Donald Dutertre, Dinsmore,
Sask. visited Thursday evening with
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ev-
erett Haist. Donald was 10 route to
the Toronto. Farm Show where he is
displaying his inventions, the grain
check for sampling grain at different
levels in a bin, and Chem -Ease for
controlling the transfer of chemicals
from the container to a sprayer.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Harry Hayter re-
turned home from a pleasant holiday
in Hawaii. They visited four differ-
ent islands. They were attending the
50th anniversary of the American
Turkey Convention in Honolulu.
While there they took a boat trip
into the Pacific to view at close
quarters a group of whales.
Miss Jayne Hayter joined her sis-
ter and family, Janice and Brad Oke,
Christopher and Jeffrey for two
weeks in Florida
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hayter, John
and Kathy Hayter, Matthew, Melis-
sa and Miranda retumed a week ago
from Florida. They visited Disney -
world, Busche Gardens, Seaworld
and Space Centre. They were de-
layed in Georgia for two days due to
a sleet storm but returned home
safely.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller visit-
ed with Labelle and John Hoffmey-
er, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Becker, Mr. and
Mrs. Chuck Becker vacationed in
Intapa, Mexico last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Leland Restemeyer
entertained Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Re-
stemeyer at Larry's Town and Coun-
try Inn in honour of their 57th wed-
ding anniversary. Congratulations.

A very pleasant time was spent
Saturday evening at Centralia Com-
munity Centre when Brenda Gaynor
entertained in honour of her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Borden Smyth of
town for their 25th wedding anni-
versary.
Relatives, friends and neighbours
were present along with the brides-
maid and best man, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugo 'Meander of Huron Park.
Rick McKinnon was M.C. for the
evening and after introducing the
head table guests we all sat down to
a lovely smorgasbord dinner catered
to by Mrs. Jennie Rowe of Exeter.
Following the dinner the evening
,was spent chatting of by gone days.
Barry McKinnon entertained with a
solo in his usuable capable manner.
Remainder of the evening was spent
with music and dancing.
The euchre at the community cen-
tre Janaury 25 has 15 tables present
with prizes going to high score -
Iva Blair, Alfred Mathers, lone
hands - Janet Hicks, Larry Estey,
low score - Alwinna Galloway,
Cleve Pullman. Special score prizes
went to Jean Noels, Marilyn Dixon.
Next conveners on February 8
will be Bill and Marilyn Dixon and
Andy and Marion Thompson.
Tom and Mary Kooy entertained
their family at dinner Sunday even-
ing, Alice and Clyde Kooy were cel-
ebrating birthdays.

UCW meets

The sermon topic at Zion United
Church was taken from John 11:5-
16, 14:1-9, 20:24-29 titled
"Thomas".
Choir practice is Wednesday even-
ing at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School
rooms.
The U.C.W. meeting for February
is this Thursday, February 4 at 8
p.m. in the Sunday School rooms.
For roll call, make a valentine and
bring it to be sent to a shut-in.
The annual meeting will be held
on Monday, February 8, (weather
permitting). There will be a pot
luck supper at 6 p.m. which will be
followed by the meeting at 8 p.m.
Flowers in the sanctuary were
place in memory of Gordon Bender,
father of Lloyd Bender and his wife
Phyllis.
In hospital at St. Joseph's, Lon-
don is Miss Nola Faist. At South
Huron Exeter is Mrs. Linda Fink-
beiner.

ruary 13 at the Community Centre.

Annual meeting
at Saintsbury

The annual St. Patrick's Church
vestry meeting was held Tuesday
evening at the home of Hazel and
Hugh Davis. Rev. B.A. Wheeler
was chairlady, Marg Carroll was
vestry clerk.
Rev. Wheeler opened the meeting
with prayer and Marg read the min-
utes of the 1987 meeting. Reports
were read by treasurer Hazel Davis
and Nadine Bedell gave the A.C.W.
report.
The church needs a new roof on
the north side. Wayne Carroll and
Suzanne Davis are to report on esti-
mates. Plans were made for further
necessary repairs.
Rev. Wheeler chose Nadine Bedell
as her warden, Bob MacGillivray
was elected peoples warden. Lay del-
egate to Synod Nadine Bedell, sub-
stitute, Wayne Carroll Board of
Management, the wardens, the pia-
nist Cheryl Carroll and Wayne,
Hugh Davis, Hazel Davis, Rose
Cunningham, Marg Carroll and Su-
zanne Davis.
At the close of the meeting all
stood and joined hands and repeated
the 'grace'. Hugh and Hazel assisted
by Suzanne served refreshments and
all enjoyed a social hour.
Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Rev. Beverly Wheeler celebrated
Holy Communion, Marg Carroll
read the lessons and I provided mu-
sic for the hymns.
Rev. Wheeler took her text from
the first chapter of Mark on the be-
ginning of our Lord's ministry. Ser-
vice for next Sunday is planned for
11 a.m.

Tuesday February 9 at 8 p.m. in the

will be "Stewardship" led by Helen
