Old fashioned Christmas at United Church
A delicious Old -Fashioned Christ-
mas Dinner was enjoyed by 106
adults and 40 children on Friday
evening at the Lucan United
Church. The meal was catered to by
the 4 and 7 Highway Ris aurant
with dessert provided by those at-
tending. Following the dinner,
Christmas carols were sung and
Santa arrived with a treat for every-
one.
As the year winds down, many
thanks to the Anniversary Commit-
tee who planned the dinner and
worked so hard, not only for this
dinner but for the many activities
that took place during the year of
the 125th Anniverary of the Lucan
United Church.

Robert's Christmas tree

Twas the night before Christmas
and everything was soundless. The
whole house was asleep. One hour
past as the clock struck two there
was a crack down in the hall,
thump, thump, thump then 1 looked
out my door. I saw snow on the
floor. I said to my self what could it
bc? I went down the stairs and went
down the hall thcn I saw a tiny man
stealing the Christmas tree. I
thought to myself if I let him have
it we will have to get another one. I
had to think fast. Maybe I could see
him if I hide somewhere in the
house. I sat there and waited... and
waited till someone came down the
hall jumped out and scared him 'half
to death. He dropped the Christmas

How arc you, Santa? How are 'the
reindeer? Are the elves makfig lots
of toys? • `.
I have bccn a good boy this year.
Everybody says so. May I have a
Walkman to listen to? Please can
you get my Mom some books to
read. And please may we get my
Dad a work bench. He has a whole
bunch of tools and he doesn't know
where to put them.

Seniors enjoy
holiday meal
Lucan Seniors and Busy Buddies
met at the .Legion Hall, Thursday
for thcir annual Christmas Dinner.
The Legion Auxiliary ladies served
a beautiful turkey dinner with all
the trimming's. -
1Seforc and after dinner we were
entertained by George Lee on:guitar
and Doug- Lewis on violin. This
was much enjoyed by all.
After dinner -we had our -exchange
of gifts with Jim and Pat Davis do-
ing an admirable job as Santa's
Helpers. Wc.thcn went to the Scout -
1:111 for. cards and crafts.
0- Our meetings during Christrnas
`and new Years weeks are cancelled.
The next inceting to►be held January
7, 1988.
May I take this opportunity to
wish everyone the Season's very
best.
I he Lucan senior citizens would
like to pass on a very hearty vote
of thanks to the employees of the
village of Lucan and council and to
everyone.who decorated their homes
to make our village look so nice.
The Main St. is so beautiful that
their is none to compare. It is a
conversational piece all .around.
