The two are the sons of LeRoy and Dorothy Revington of Lucan, • both musically -inclined parents and reknowned breeders of race horses. Steve.is a teachet at Hensall Public School, while his brother works as a landscape designer in London. The winning song, "Here Comes the Rain"; was recorded at Lucan's E.M.A.C. studio on 24 -track equip- ment as part of the Twice Shy four- ' song demo tape. "It's a little bigger sound than you would expect corning out of a Lu - can studio," Stcvc Revington told the Times Advocate. His brother was unavailable for an interview be- cause he is prescnily in the Caribb- ean. Steve praises the efforts of engi- . neer Joe Vaughan and producer Peter Brennan, as major contributions to Twice Shy's-success. Vaughan has worked with many artists including those who later bceame Honeymoon Suite. They believe marketing a specific musical style is a surer route to success. • "We'd rather spend the time in the studio." The duo took their name from a new book by Dick Francis: Francis writes about race horses and thus "Twice Shy" reflects something of the brothers' backgrourrd. Revington treats the Twicc Shy project as a very expensive hobby, but he is very pleased with winning recognition in the Entrack contest. He docs not anticipate instant star- dom, but he would like to see something eventually develop from all this hard work. Scott and Steve took some of their tapes to England last summer and made the rounds of the record companies. Steve describes it as a learning experience; the main lesson learned was that the overall sound of the music had to be "toughened up" a little. However. he mentions "several people who wcrc pleased with what they heard. "The people from Germany listen- ing to it in England thought we were an English band. The sound comes across as very European," says Revington, claiming this dis- recording time won in the Entrack contest to put together two good singles for an independent release next year. "We would really like to see something happening in January," Revington hopes. However, Steve notes that time is of the essence in the music industry, because he rcal- iics many of their songwriting ideas have been used by othcr artists. Scott and. It was written long before T'I au's "Heart and Soul" or Gino- Vanelli's "Wild Horses" wcrc re- leased this year.
