Hensall Public School delighted
its guests Wednesday December 16
with the tnessage Christmas is...the
birth of Christ, candles, elves-,--

song and dance.
The balance of the program was
performed by the kindergarten to
grade 4 classes with a finale given
in song by the Senior Choir.
The evening rerhinded us that
Christmas is the Birth of Christ as
Mrs. Telford's class reenacted the
Nativity scene. The audience felt
close to the action as the Three
Wise Men walked through the audi-
ence and up onto thc'stage,
Christmas we. were told is a
Candle - a symbol of joy. Mrs.
Strang's class spoke a Christmas
message in rhyme as they walked
up on stage carrying lit candles.
The atmosphere was' brightened
with the prancing of Mrs. Preszca-
tor's little elves. Decked out in bril-
liantly coloured costumes the elves
danced out a Tap Tap Tap tune and
showed us storybooks and teddy
bears.
The evening closed with the well
train:d voices of the senior choir.
Under Mr. Revington's direction the
choir sang unaccompanied. "City
News from

On Friday November 27 Hensall
Public School had Christmas activi-
ties. At Mr: Kcmp's room there was
Christmas symbol painting. First
the students drew a margin around
their -page. Next they sketched a
symbol, After that they took a
sponge and applied coloured wash to
the whole page. Then they either
waited or took a blow dryer to dry
their page. Next they took paints!
and painted their symbols.
. At Mr. Rcvington's room pupils
made posters advertising the Christ-
mas Concert. If they didn't finish, a
different group would finish them.
Mr. Revington gave some good ide-
as: The aostos were hung up -town.
At Mrs. Hoelscher's room cor-
sages were made for Mom, Grandma
or an aunt.
At Mr. Mansfield's room stridents
wrote stories, poems or other
Christmas writing. That's where
this was made.
The teachers should really be
thanked for the work that they put
into planning these interesting op-
portunities.
Unit 2 UCW
Mona Alderdice welcomed every-
one and gave a reading "A Christ-
mas Wish". Hazel Corbett conduct-
ed the devotion.
The roll. call - a verse from -a
Christmas Card was answered by
13 members. Members brought a
gift for the layette.
Mona.thanked Helen MacLean for
her past year as Unit Leader and
presented her with a gift.
Dianne Gerstcnkom demonstrated
making a Christmas basket. Later
each member made a Christmas
corsage. Lunch was served by Dor-
othy Corbett and Jeanette Turner.
Santa's Vacation

Hensall P. S. Grade 3
It was the day before Christmas
and Santa's elves were all rcady
for Christmas. When Santa said,
"I think I'm going to go on a va-
cation this Christmas," the elves
were worried. One of the elves
said to Santa, "Where arc you go-
ing to go?" "I'm going to Califor-
nia this winter."
. The elves told the reindeer.. Ru- •
dolph .cried so hard that Santa
said, "If you like me that much I
won't go to California after all.
And it was a merry Christmas af-
ter all. Ho -ho -ho!.

One December Santa went on va-
cation and do you know where he
went? He went to Hawaii. Every-
body laughed when he did the Ha-
waiian dance. He was the best surf-
-er there. I would like to be that
good, wouldn't you? When he came
home he had to deliver the Christ-
mas presents that Mrs. Santa and
the elves had gotten ready. Arcn't
you glad he got to deliver them?
