General employees honoured
site auditorium of Hensall Recrea-
tion Centre was the site of a party,
Thursday December 10 as 158 em-
ployees of General Manufactured
Housing of Hensall celebrated the
Christmas season.
The afternoon kicked off with a
lunch buffet followed by a brief
message of welcome by General
Manager Doug Holmes. In his ad-
dress Holmes recounted the compa-
ny's notablo history, dating back to
1951 and the changes effected by
eleven different owners and broad di-
versification. He also brought greet-
ings from the owner of General
Manufactured Housing, John Noble.
Noble, in his letter, complimented
the efforts of the employees by say-
ing "our customers arc selective and
demand excellence. They have not
been disappointed."
Further highlights of the afternoon
were two "Get -a -way" draws spon-
sored by the company. These awards
were to recognize employees, who
by habit and choice have attained at-
tendance excellence.
The first draw for a trip for two to
Jack Tar Village in the Bahamas was
made available to employees who
had achieved an attendance record for
the past year of 98 percent or better.
The winner of this draw was Frank
Slater, Auburn.
The names of these employees
with 96 percent attendance or better
were then added to the drum and a
second draw was made. The prize,
won by Richard Elliott, Dublin, was
a trip for two to Orlando, Florida.
All employees were then eligible for
a third prize; a trip for two to Las
Vegas. This was awarded by General
Manufactured Housing Employee
Recreation Fund, Lorne Gacksetter,
Hensall.
In addition to the trips the three
winners will each receive S250.00
travelling money as a gift from John
Noble and Lake Simcoe Parklands of
Sutton.
Tho United Brotherhood of Car-
penters and Joiners then offered eight.
gifts to the employees. The people
who won these draws were: Dale
Reid, Lloyd McCurdy, Jim
McGrath, Art Slade, Tom Dietrich,
Joseph Aubin, Murray Keller and
Alan Edwards.
Lake Simcoc Parklands awarded
gifts to S250.00 to five draw win-
ners. The winners were: Tom Die-
trich, Wayne Schrader, Dan Durdin,
Gcnc Guenther and Tom Ducharme.
A special "draw" was made for
S250. and was awarded to Ervin Re-
ichert in honor of his retirement.
The formal portion of the after-
noon was brought to a close by the
distribution of Christmas turkeys
for each employee and wishes for a
safe and happy holiday.
OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS - Craig Wragg and Jennifer Illman ignore their audience and concentrate on
dunking for apples, one of the many activities organized for the children who attended the Exeter Legion's Christ-
mas party.
