Sanfa visits Ailsa Craig

Despili the frosty cold winter Sat•
urday Ailsa Craig's Santa Claus Pa-
rade was held. The volunteer fire
men lined the parade up -at Crai-
gholme this year which gave the
seniors and shut ins a more closer
look at the entries and how they
were assembled.
The clouds and wind stayed with
us from start to finish, then that
lineup for a bag of candy was so
long but a warm greeting and a Ho!
Ho! Ho! from the guy that is more
famous than Michael Jackson or
Vann White.

Santa Claus seemed to be worth
the wait.
Most of 400 candy bags were
handed out at the Smarts Paris
. Shop, better known as Walsh's Ga-
rage, while hot chocolate and sand-
wiches were available for the Sea
Cadet Band members and float par-
ticipants at the fire hall provided by
the firemen and their wives.
The judges had a tough time de-
ciding on the winners'. They were
Riverview Women Institute, Ailsa
Craig Brownies and Hair Fashion
Centre. The streets were lincd with
cars and people early this year but

The Lucan Women's Institute mct
at the Optimist hall to enjoy a pot
luck luncheon then we travelled to
the Villa Retirement Home to enter-
tain the residents with poems and
readings of Christmas.
We sang Christmas carols to mu-
sic recorded by Flora Robertson.
She also sang the solo "Jolly Old
St. Nicholas".
We took turns telling a memory
of past Christmas" We brought
Christmas cookies for treats and
sang "We Wish You a Merry
Christmas".
Ladies of the community arc in-
vited to the Institute meeting Janu-
ary 13 at the Optimist Hall 2 p.m.

It's nice to see a familiar face back
working in town again. Larry Mor-
ley better known as "Buck" bas
joined the staff at James A -Walsh
Sales Ltd.
The Gala Days Committee had a
50/50 draw at the Santa Claus pa-
rade Saturday. All 500 tickets were
sold with the split of $220 with ex-
penses out went to Shirley Vanmas-
senoven, RR 3 Ailsa Craig. The
reason was to help raise money for
our Gala Days fireworks that cost
1986 - 812,000 - and 1987 -
$ 15,000. Thanks to all who bought
or donated to the cause.

15, 16, and 17.
Lions donate
The Lion Club donated a Christ-
mas Tree to Craigholme and Sunday
had the annual Senior supper at the
Legion hall. President Doug Brown
and his helpers served a fine feast to
a large •erowd, special head table
guests were Reeve Don Shipway
and his wifc Jean.
SH Auxiliary
The Christmas meeting was held
October 9. Mrs. Alma Langford and
Mrs. Hazel Miller gave an interest-
ing report on the Convention held
in Toronto for Ontario Hospital
Auxiliaries'.
The ladies were entertained by a
special program put on by the Hos-
pital staff, with humorous skits -
"Fashions for Men" and the
"Evolution of a Hospital Employ -
cc".
The Gift Shoppc report included a
S2,000 cheque given to the Auxil-
iary.
Mrs. Bridges thanked all the ladies
who participated in the Craft and
Bake Sale and the ladies who sold
tickets on the afghan as well as do-
nations of knitting and crafts to the
gift shoppe.
The afghan was won by Mrs.
Phyllis Butcherit, Mississauga, On-
tario. The Christmas centrepiece
was won by Mrs. Joanne McCann,
Exeter.
Nursery school
hosts seniors
December 10 The Lucan Scniors
and Busy Buddies were entertained
in the Scout Hall by the Nursery
School under the direction of teacher
Mrs. Coreen Dans.
There were several action pageants'
and songs. The children all under
kindergarten age did very well and
looked quite festive with garlands of
sparkles around their heads.
After the programme lunch was
served, the lunch having been pre-
pared by Mrs. Davis and the pupils
was totally enjoyed by all.
After lunch we had cards and
crafts.
Next meeting December 17 is our
annual Christmas Dinner at the Le-
gion Hall. Exchange of gifts will be
carried out then.
