Clown entertains
Santa came to Crediton, Sunday

Santa came and each child received
a bag of candy. Thanks, again to the
Social Club for treating the chil-
dren.
An enjoyable evening was held at
Larry's Town and Country- Restau-
rant Friday evening when folks were
entertained by local talent.
Christmas Concert
Sunday.. December 13 the Credi-
ton Sunday School held their
Christmas Concert. Denise Hen-
drick was our pianist. The different
classes acted out their parts titled
"Around The Manger".
A TWISTING GOOD TIME- At Sunday's Crediton Social Club Christ-
mas party, Twister the Clown produces balloons for Philip McDonald and
Brent Glavin.
Mrs. Mary Elder and three angels
lit the Advent Candle wreath. Gifts
and candy were distributed by Harry
Schroeder and Calvin Fahner.
Thanks to the teachers, the pianist
and all who took part to make it a
wonderful program. The children did
well, even the little folks.
Choir practice is Wednesday even-
ing at 8:00 p.m. in the church sanc-
tuary.
Sympathy is extended to the fami-
ly of the late Mrs. Irene Blyde.
Sympathy goes out to her husband
George, her sons and daughters and
hergrandchildren and sisters and
brothers.

In hospital at South Huron Exeter
are Mr. Ed Hendrick, Mrs. Idella
Sims, and Mrs: Dorothy Ohmayer.
Next Sunday the service will
again be at 10:00 a.m." with the cel-
ebration of our Christmas Holy
Communion.
Services on Christmas Eve, De-
cember 24 will be at 7:30 p.m.
This will again be a Family Ser-
vice, and all are invited to come and
celebrate the Birth of Christ.

Correction
In last week's paper, an item on
the Crediton and District Social
dance should have included that a de-
licious turkey meal prepared by the
lunch committee wasenjoyedby
all. Music by Light and Easy was
also enjoyed. (Sony for not putting
it in.)

St. Paul's Anglican Church Sun-
day School held their Christmas
dinner and concert following the
Church service.
David Brambrough announced the
program which opened with a chor-
us by the children "Away in A '
Manger". Jessica Blackler was narra-
tor for pictures of the Christmas
Story which were drawn by the chil-
dren.
Brian Brambrough sang a solo,
Alea Blackler a piano solo, Dana
Brambrough a" reading and David
Grant a solo. Santa paid a visit then
everyone enjoyed dinner.

Sunday School concert at Kippen

The students of the Sunday
School under the direction of Super-
intendent Diane Dewys, conducted
the annual White Gift Service in St.
Andrews Church on Sunday Decem-
ber 13. Angie Faber led the worship
service. Tricia Cooper read the
scripture lessons.
The story of the first Whitc Gift
service and how it came about was
presented in a three act play. Those
taking part in the play were Leanne
Charters, Jonathon Turner, Nancy
Le Faive, Mark Cooper; Candace
Cooper and Dana Cooper.
The first White Gift Service took
place in Painesville, Ohio in 1904.
The offering was takcn up by

Allan Kerslake, in his mother's
arms, made a beautiful Baby Jesus
in a dramatization of the Christmas
Story at the joint meeting of the
Marian Ritchie W.M.S: and Cro-
marty Ladies Aid on Tuesday even-
ing. Also taking part were Peggy
Kerslake as Mary, Pearl James as
Joseph, Joy Scott, Karen Hamilton
and Susan Gilchrist as shepherds,
.with Alice Gardiner as the reader of
the -Christmas scriptures.
Roberta Templeman presided,
opening with a poem, The Legend
of the Christmas Rose. Following
the singing of "Angels from the
Realms of Glory", Larilo Gardiner
played a piano instrumental. Jean
Carey gave a humorous reading
How to Buy a Christmas tree".
Verle Mahon, Staffa4 showed a
very interesting display of candle ar-
rangements using many articles
(round around the house such as
doorknobs, tart tins, wine bottles,
etc. She closed with a poem "A
Candle's But a Simple Thing".
Betty Lou Norris led a sing -song
of Christmas carols followed by the
reading of a chapter on celebrating
Christmas in Saskatchewan during
the depression from Gwyneth Whil-
smith's book "Hear the Pennies
Dropping" by Ruth Laing.
The offering was received by Lil-
lian Douglas and Doris Miller and
dedicated by Hazel Harburn. Mrs.
Templeman closed the meeting with
a reading "Christmas Is" Follow-
ing the hymn "Silent Night" a love-
ly lunch was served by the Ladies
Aid.
An exchange of small Chrisunas
gifts took place from a table centred
with a lighted tree.
Beverly LeFaive and Murray Work-
man, who along with Angie Faber
read the litany of gifts while the
children in procession presented
their Whitc Gift envelopes. These
gifts were to go to the Mission and
Service Fund of the United Church,
the Family and Children's Services,
and The Friendship House through
Survival.
Nancy LeFaivc led in prayer and
Angie Faber closed the service with
the Benediction. Later in the aftcr-
noon the Sunday School held their
Christmas skating party followed
by lunch, Santa Claus and gifts •
back at the church.
The Kippen choir is asked to at-
tcnd a practice on Thursday Decem-
ber 17 in the Bruccficld Church as
the combined choirs prepare for
Christmas Eve Service. Practice be-
gins at 7:30 p.m.
Christmas Eve Service for the
whole family, babrand all for both
churches, Kipped and Bruccficld and
community, will be held in the
Bruccficld Church at 7:30 p.m.
Communion will be celebrated on
Sunday- December 27.

Don and Yvonne Reynolds trav-
elled .to Burlington on Saturday De-
cember 5, to their son Colin and his
wife Gwen's home, to take their
first look at four-week old grand-
daughter, Stephanie Anne.
On Sunday December 6, Mattie
McGregor, resident of Maplewood
Manor in Seaforth, was able to at-
tend a pre -Christmas celebration.
This was held at the home of her
son 'Doug and his wife Anne and
their children Brian and Barbara.
Also present were Mattie's daughter
Catherine and husband Eric Judge
and their children Heather, Jimmy
and Kathy Jane, all from Strathroy.

warden. The Kippen Community
wish him a successful year of ser-
vice.

They visited with Bob and Frances
Kinsman in their home, on the oc-
casion of Frances' birthday, Irene
Glanville of Marian Villa, AI's
mother Ruby Hoggarth who is a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital, and
their daughter Janet to help celebrate
her 20th birthday, while she is busy "
studying for exams at University of
Western Ontario.
